PRISON BREAK Reboot Ordered To Series At Hulu

Hulu has greenlit a reboot of the hit TV show "Prison Break". The project originally received a pilot order at Hulu in December 2024. The new show is set in the same world as the original series but will feature different characters and a new storyline. Here is the official logline: "An ex-soldier turned corrections officer takes a job at one of the deadliest prisons in America to prove just how far she'll go for someone she loves".

The cast includes Emily Browning, Drake Rodger, Lukas Gage, Clayton Cardenas, JR Bourne, Georgie Flores and Myles Bullock. Elgin James ("Mayans M.C.", "The Outlaws") serves as the writer, showrunner, and executive producer in addition to directing the pilot.

Dawn Olmstead executive produces along with Paul Scheuring, the creator of the original "Prison Break", Marty Adelstein and Neal Moritz. Olmstead, Adelstein, and Moritz were all executive producers on the original series. 20th Television, which produced the original show, is the studio.

"Prison Break" ran for five seasons on Fox. The original cast included Dominic Purcell, Wentworth Miller, Amaury Nolasco, Robert Knepper, Sarah Wayne Callies, and Rockmund Dunbar. It also spawned a TV movie, "The Final Break", and a low-budget spinoff titled "Prison Break: Proof of Innocence" that was exclusively available on mobile phones. The series also inspired a video game, online webisodes, a magazine and a novel.

New on DVD and Blu-ray: June 27, 2017

The new DVD and Blu-ray releases for the week of June 27, 2017 include the "Power Rangers" reboot, the R-rated comedy reboot "CHIPS", Danny Boyle's sequel "T2: Trainspotting", the horror film "The Belko Experiment" and the creepy thriller "The Autopsy of Jane Doe".

In the television category we have the DVD and Blu-ray release of this year's "Prison Break" event series and the Blu-ray release of the complete series, including the event series. Also out on home video are the first part of "Midsomer Murders" Series 19, and "The Rockford Files" complete series.

Among the oldies-but-goldies out now on Blu-ray we have the 1992 thriller "Trespass" starring Bill Paxton and Ice Cube, the drama "Running on Empty" starring River Pheonix in an Oscar-nominated performance, The "Pink Panther" Film Collection and many more.

PRISON BREAK Season 5 Trailers, Clips, Featurettes, Images and Posters

Fox is bringing back "Prison Break" for a new 9-episode event season that premieres tonight at 9p. Most of the show's original cast is returning, and the action is set in Yemen, where apparently Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) is still alive, but held captive in Ogygia prison. So his brother Lincoln (Dominic Purcell), the love of his life Sara (Sarah Wayne Callies) and former Fox River prison breakers C-Note (Rockmond Dunbar), Sucre (Amaury Nolasco) and everyone's favorite bad guy T-Bag (Robert Knepper), join forces to spring him out of the prison, and the country.

New on DVD and Blu-ray: December 6, 2016

The new DVD and Blu-ray releases this week include the new Matt Damon action sequel "Jason Bourne", Illumination's animated feature "The Secret Life of Pets", the black and white version of "Mad Max: Fury Road" dubbed "Black & Chrome Edition", John Krasinski's feature film directorial debut "The Hollars", the documentaries "Heart of a Dog" and "For the Love of Spock", and many more.

We also have some new series premiering on home video this week: the first seasons of MTV's "The Shannara Chronicles", Disney's "Lego Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures" and Oprah Winfrey's "Greenleaf", and the complete four seasons of "Prison Break", each one released on separate Blu-ray sets.

PRISON BREAK Season 5 Sneak Peek Trailer and Images

In 2017, "Prison Break" returns for a limited series run, rounding up the entire cast of the original show for a new adventure set in Yemen. It seems that Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) is still alive seven years after the events that ended the show's four season run, and he's being held in a Yemen prison. It's up to Lincoln (Dominic Purcell), Sara (Sarah Wayne Callies) and some old friends, to break him out of prison. Amaury Nolasco, Robert Knepper, Rockmond Dunbar, Marina Benedict and Paul Adelstein co-star.
