Shemar Moore to Reprise Role as Hondo in Spinoff S.W.A.T. EXILES

The action drama series "S.W.A.T." was cancelled by CBS for a third time on May 16, and it seems this time it's final. But fans shouldn't fret, because Sony Pictures Television is spinning it off for a new show titled "S.W.A.T. Exiles" in which the original show's Shemar Moore will reprise his role as Daniel "Hondo" Harrelson. Also, the 200-person production crew that worked on "S.W.A.T." will get to keep their jobs when production resumes this summer in Los Angeles.

Here’s the spinoff's official logline: "After a high-profile mission goes sideways, Hondo is pulled out of forced retirement to lead a last-chance experimental SWAT unit made up of untested, unpredictable young recruits. Hondo must bridge a generational divide, navigate clashing personalities, and turn a squad of outsiders into a team capable of protecting the city and saving the program that made him who he is."

Casting is still underway. Jason Ning ("Lucifer") will take over as showrunner as part of his recently renewed overall deal with Sony. The studio plans to produce and distribute the 10-episode series globally by finding the right homes and partners for these new stories to reach the passionate "S.W.A.T." fanbase and attract new viewers. Executive producers include Moore, Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty of Original Film, as well as James Scura.

Moore had this to say about the new project: "My eight seasons on S.W.A.T. have been epic and memorable, we entertained the world, defied the odds, came back from the dead twice, and continued to woo fans and families worldwide. I am excited for this next generation and iteration of S.W.A.T. with Sony".

The film is directed by Jeff Fowler from a script by Pat Casey, Josh Miller and John Whittington. "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" is an action adventure comedy directed by Jeff Fowler from a script by Pat Casey, Josh Miller & John Whittington ("The LEGO Batman Movie"). The film is a sequel to the 2020 film "Sonic the Hedgehog", based on the SEGA video game character of the same name.

Ben Schwartz reprises the titular role and he's joined by Idris Elba, who voices the new CGI character Knuckles, and Colleen O'Shaughnessey as the voice of Tails. James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally, Shemar Moore, Lee Majdoub and Jim Carrey co-star.

The film opened in theaters on April 8, 2022.

The third season of the procedural drama series "S.W.A.T." has premiered on October 2, 2019 on CBS. Created by Shawn Ryan ("The Shield") and Aaron Rahsaan Thomas ("Friday Night Lights" writer), the show follows Sergeant Daniel "Hondo" Harrelson (Shemar Moore), a lifetime Los Angeles local and former Marine who is asked to lead a new Special Weapons and Tactics unit.

Amy Farrington join the cast this season as Lt. Detective Piper Lynch, who is appointed by the mayor to oversee all of the departments involved in the search of a serial bomber. The cast also includes Alex Russell, Lina Esco, Kenny Johnson, Jay Harrington and David Lim.

S.W.A.T. (2017) Series Trailers, Clip, Featurette, Images and Posters

The television series "S.W.A.T." is a reboot of both the 1970s show produced by Aaron Spelling and the 2003 big screen adaptation. The reboot was created by Aaron Rahsaan Thomas ("CSI: New York"), who also serves as executive-producer and showrunner alongside "The Shield" creator Shawn Ryan.

Shemar Moore ("Criminal Minds") stars as former Marine Daniel "Hondo" Harrelson, a locally born SWAT sergeant, torn between loyalty to the streets and duty to his fellow officers, who is tasked with leading a highly-trained unit against the ever-rising crime wave on the streets of L.A.

The cast also features Kenny Johnson, David Lim, Lina Esco, Jay Harringron, Alex Russell, Stephanie Sigman and Patrick St. Esprit. The pilot episode was directed by "Fast & Furious" franchise helmer Justin Lin, who is also a producer on the show.

"S.W.A.T." premiered on November 2nd, 2017 on CBS and received mostly mixed reviews from critics. The next episode will air on November 9th.
