BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE Trailer and Images

Warner Bros. has released the first full trailer and a batch of images for their direct-to-video animated feature "Batman: The Killing Joke".

Directed by Sam Liu ("Batman: Year One"), the film is based on Alan Moore and Brian Bolland's award-winning 1988 graphic novel which pits Batman against the Joker in one of their most brutal confrontations. Furthermore, the movie is rated R for "some bloody images and disturbing content", which is definitely a first in the realm of DC Comics animation.

The voice cast features veterans Kevin Conroy as Batman and Mark Hamill as the Joker, and they are joined by Ray Wise as Commissioner James Gordon and Tara Strong as Barbara Gordon.

Here is what the studio announced in a press release regarding the film's R rating:

"From the start of production, we encouraged producer Bruce Timm and our team at Warner Bros. Animation to remain faithful to the original story — regardless of the eventual MPAA rating,” said Sam Register, president of Warner Bros. Animation & Warner Digital Series, in a statement. “The Killing Joke is revered by the fans, particularly for its blunt, often-shocking adult themes and situations. We felt it was our responsibility to present our core audience — the comics-loving community — with an animated film that authentically represented the tale they know all too well."

"Batman: The Killing Joke" is expected to premiere at the Comic-Con this summer followed by a release on DVD and Blu-ray later this year.

First SUICIDE SQUAD Images of the Cast and Jared Leto's Joker

With just a few days before "Suicide Squad" begins filming, we have the first official image of the film's cast, as well as a new image of Jared Leto's transformation into the Joker. Directed by David Ayer ("Fury"), the film follows the adventures of the titular squad, a secret task force comprised of super villains.

The cast we can see in the photo features Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc and Viola Davis as Amanda Walker.

Jared Leto will star as the Joker, although he's not featured in the group photo. He is however featured in a new image showcasing his transformation into the legendary villain, which is also a reference to the cover of Alan Moore's "The Killing Joke", a one-shot graphic novel which provides an origin story for the Joker.

"Suicide Squad" opens in theaters on August 5, 2016.
