"The Snowman" is a crime thriller based on the novel of the same name written by Jo Nesbø, the sixth book in the series featuring Inspector Harry Hole. The film is directed by Tomas Alfredson ("Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy") from a script by Peter Straughan ("How to Lose Friends & Alienate People") and Hossein Amini ("Drive").

Michael Fassbender stars as elite crime squad lead detective Harry Hole, who investigates the disappearance of a woman on the first snow of winter, which he fears might be connected to an elusive serial killer. A race against time begins as the inspector must unlock the mystery of past unsolved cases in order to track down the killer before the next snowfall. Rebecca Ferguson, J.K. Simmons, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Toby Jones, Val Kilmer, James D'Arcy, Jamie Clayton and Chloe Sevigny also star.

"The Snowman" opened in theaters on October 20th, 2017 and received universally negative reviews from critics. It also tanked at the box-office, grossing just $3.3 million from 1,812 theaters in its opening weekend. Its worldwide cume now sits at $30.8 million against a $35 million production budget.

Weekend Box-Office: Madea Sequel BOO 2! Tops the Charts As Other New Releases Struggle

I suppose it's no longer a surprise that Tyler Perry's movies make a lot of money, so then you won't find it strange that the latest Madea flick "Boo 2! A Madea Halloween" is at the top of the box-office, ahead of a big-budget disaster movie, a true story firefighter drama and a dark serial killer thriller, all of which have struggled over the weekend.
