The horror comedy "Happy Death Day 2U" is a sequel to the 2017 film "Happy Death Day". Both films are produced by Jason Blum ("Insidious", "The Purge") and directed by Christopher Landon ("Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse").

Jessica Rothe reprises the role of Tree Gelbman, who discovers that dying over and over was surprisingly easier than the dangers that lie ahead. The cast also includes Israel Broussard, Phi Vu, Suraj Sharma, Sarah Yarkin, Ruby Modine, Steve Zissis and Rachel Matthews.

"Happy Death Day 2U" opened in theaters on February 13, 2019 and received mixed-to-positive reviews from critics.

Weekend Box-Office: Madea Sequel BOO 2! Tops the Charts As Other New Releases Struggle

I suppose it's no longer a surprise that Tyler Perry's movies make a lot of money, so then you won't find it strange that the latest Madea flick "Boo 2! A Madea Halloween" is at the top of the box-office, ahead of a big-budget disaster movie, a true story firefighter drama and a dark serial killer thriller, all of which have struggled over the weekend.

HAPPY DEATH DAY Trailers, Clips, B-Roll, Images and Posters

"Happy Death Day" is a darkly humorous horror film directed by Christopher Landon ("Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse") and produced by Jason Blum ("Split", "The Purge").

Jessica Rothe stars as Tree Gelbman, a college student who is forced to relive the day of her murder until she discovers her killer's identity. Israel Broussard, Ruby Modine, Rachel Matthews and Charles Aitken co-star.

"Happy Death Day" opened in theaters on October 13th, 2017 and received mixed-to-positive reviews from critics, who praised Rothe's breakthrough performance, but considered that its Groundhog Day concept doesn't always work as well as it should and it's also not terribly original. The film topped the charts in its opening weekend, grossing $26.5 million versus a budget of $4.8 million.

This week in theaters we have Martin Campbell's "The Foreigner", a very different kind of Jackie Chan action flick, the Blumhouse horror "Happy Death Day", and the biopic "Marshall" starring Chadwick Boseman. In limited release, it might be worth checking out "Professor Marston and the Wonder Women", the true story behind the creation of legendary DC Comics character Wonder Woman.
