Indian film production and distribution company Sun Pictures has revealed the upcoming new epic fantasy action film from director Atlee, which is titled "Raaka". The studio also announced that the film will star Allu Arjun ("Pushpa: The Rise") and Deepika Padukone ("Kalki 2898 AD"), and released a title poster, which you can check out below. Padukone, previously worked with Atlee on "Jawan".
Atlee said the folliwing in a statement: "'Raaka' isn’t just a film… it's a part of me I've carried for years. For 18 years, I held on to one idea, never letting it fade. It tested me, shaped me, and stayed with me through everything. And honestly… this is just the beginning".
Sun Pictures added: "Sun Pictures is privileged to bring together the singular storytelling of Atlee and the iconic stature of Allu Arjun in a project built for the world".
Filming is expected to begin at a studio in Mumbai soon, with production likely continuing through the year. It has also been reported that Mrunal Thakur, Rashmika Mandanna, and Janhvi Kapoor are also set to star.
Arjun is best known for starring in the "Pushpa" film series. The filrst film grossed around $42 million worldwide in 2021. Its 2024 sequel, "Pushpa 2: The Rule" raked in $194 million globally, making it the third-highest-grossing Indian film of all time behind "Dangal" and "Baahubali 2: The Conclusion". For the most recent installment, "Pushpa: The Rise", Arjun won the Indian National Film Award for Best Actor.
