LL Cool J and Scott Caan Join Spinoff NCIS: NEW YORK

Ll Cool J Anc Scott Caan Join Spinoff Ncis New York

A new "NCIS" spinoff has been announced by CBS and is set to premiere this fall. Titled "NCIS: New York", the show features the return of NCIS Agent Sam Hanna (LL Cool J) to his hometown of New York City and their field office. Here he partners with a roguish agent played by Scott Caan and helps lead a new team as they are tasked with high-stakes missions to defend one of the world's most vital cities and ports.

LL Cool J, who portrayed Hanna for 14 seasons on "NCIS: Los Angeles", returns to the original series for a two-episode guest arc on April 21 and April 28, which bridges his character's transition to the new spinoff. "NCIS: New York" will air on Tuesday nights at 9 p.m., in between the flagship series "NCIS" at 8 p.m. and "NCIS: Origins" at 10 p.m., with "NCIS: Sydney" joining the lineup midseason to replace "NCIS: Origins".

Here's what LL Cool J had to say about the new series: "You know, it's a new evolution, because you get to see him in a new setting, right? So, context gives the meaning to stories. Context is everything, right? So, seeing him in a New York setting, the New York vibes, the New York streets, it's gonna be interesting. And then on top of that...he's a superhero. This is a guy who puts his life on the line for his partners, for his friends, for the people he loves, for his country. And I think that's cool."

"NCIS: New York" is being showrun by Byron Balasco, and the pilot is written by "The Pitt" creator R. Scott Gemmill, who has previous experience with the "NCIS" franchise, having written on all 14 seasons of "NCIS: Los Angeles" and serving as a showrunner for seven of them.

"NCIS: Los Angeles" ran between 2009 and 2023 and also starred Chris O’Donnell, Medalion Rahimi, Linda Hunt, Daniela Ruah, Eric Christian Olsen, Barrett Foa and Renée Felice Smith.
