Peter Sarsgaard Joins THE LAST OF US Season 3

Peter Sarsgaard Joins The Last Of Us Season 3

Two-time Emmy nominee Peter Sarsgaard ("Dopesick", "Presumed Innocent") has joined the third season of HBO's post-apocalyptic drama series "The Last Of Us" in a recurring role. The announcement comes just as the series is entering a mid-shoot hiatus, which coincides with the FIFA World Cup and will last around a month. The show is filming in Vancouver, which is also one of the host cities of the tournament.

Season 2 picked up five years after the events of the first season. There are no details regarding the plot of Season 3, however, it is expected that it will follow Abby Anderson (Kaitlyn Dever), and that the Seraphites will play a major part.

Sarsgaard will be playing Amon, one of the leaders of The Seraphites, who is a new character that is not in the Naughty Dog video games. After the hiatus, filming is scheduled to continue through the end of the year. The new season is expected to premiere in 2027. It is also believed that Season 3 will also be the show's final season.

"The Last of Us" is co-created by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, based on latter's two video games of the same name. Mazin, also served as executive producer/co-showrunner alongside Druckmann in Seasons 1 and 2, but after Druckmann's departure, Mazin will be the sole showrunner of Season 3.
