Paul Dano has joined the cast of "Possession", a remake of the 1981 psychological horror film of the same name that starred Isabelle Adjani and Sam Neill. The remake is set up at Paramount since 2024, and is written and directed by Parker Finn ("Smile"). No release date has been set as of yet.
The film stars Callum Turner and Margaret Qualley. Character details are under wraps. Finn is also producing alongside Jonathan Fass via Bad Feeling, Roy Lee and Andrew Childs via Vertigo, and Robert Pattinson, who was originally attached to star. Marc Bienstock executive produces.
The original film was written and directed by Andrzej Zulawski and it followed the the relationship between Neill's Mark, an international spy, and his wife, Anna (Adjani). When Mark returns to his West Berlin home that he shares with Anna and their young son Bob, he discovers that his wife is having an affair. As Anna descends into madness, it soon becomes clear that she is hiding a much bigger secret, one that is both inexplicable and shocking. Adjani won Best Actress at Cannes for her iconic performance in the film.
Dano is also set to star in Florian Zeller's psychological thriller "Bunker", Ramin Bahrani's romantic thriller "Vegas: A Love Story" and the A24 crime dramedy "The Chaperones".
