This week in theaters we have two new wide releases, the animated film "The Secret Life of Pets", and the R-rated comedy "Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates". In limited release you should check out the drama "Captain Fantastic" starring Viggo Mortensen. Also starting a limited run in theaters is the Stephen King adaptation "Cell" which, unfortunately, seems to be a complete misfire. More about each movie after the jump.

Synopses, details, critical reception, trailers, clips and more after the jump.

The latest Stephen King adaptation to hit theaters is the sci-fi horror film "Cell". Unfortunately, the movie is the least memorable film based on the prolific author's body of work, squandering a good cast and an interesting premise on cliches and low production values. The film has been hit hard by critics and is currently rated 0% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Directed by Tod Williams ("Paranormal Activity 2"), the film stars John Cusack, Samuel L. Jackson, Isabelle Fuhrman, Stacy Keach and Catherine Dyer.

The cast also includes Samuel L. Jackson, Isabelle Fuhrman, Stacy Keach and Catherine Dyer.

"Cell" will be available on VOD June 10th followed by a release in theaters on July 8th.
