Weekend Box-Office: SECRET LIFE OF PETS Makes Record-Breaking Debut

Once again, an animated feature dominates the box-office. "The Secret Life of Pets" towered above the competition, while the other new releas, the comedy "Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates", only managed a modest debut. Another big surprise came from Bollywood.

This week in theaters we have two new wide releases, the animated film "The Secret Life of Pets", and the R-rated comedy "Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates". In limited release you should check out the drama "Captain Fantastic" starring Viggo Mortensen. Also starting a limited run in theaters is the Stephen King adaptation "Cell" which, unfortunately, seems to be a complete misfire. More about each movie after the jump.

New MIKE AND DAVE NEED WEDDING DATES Clips and Images

The R-rated comedy "Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates" is now in theaters and it looks like it's really not bad. After something like "Dirty Grandpa", saying it's "not bad" is really a major compliment these days. The film received mostly mixed reviews and the critics are saying that while the jokes may fall flat most of the time, the great cast makes the movie tolerable for all of its 98 minutes of running time.

Directed by Jake Szymanski ("7 Days in Hell"), the film also stars Zac Efron, Adam Devine, Anna Kendrick, Aubrey Plaza, Stephen Root, Sugar Lyn Beard, Alice Wetterlund and Sam Richardson.

Today we have a new red-band trailer, a few images and a poster for the R-rated comedy "Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates".

Zac Efron and Adam Devine star as two hard-partying brothers who are forced by their parents to find respectable dates to take to their sister's Hawaiian wedding. The two place an ad for wedding dates that goes viral and attracts the attention of two equally hard-partying women (Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plaza), who end up outsmarting the brothers for a free trip to Hawaii.

Directed by Jake Szymanski ("7 Days in Hell"), the film also stars Stephen Root, Sugar Lyn Beard, Alice Wetterlund and Sam Richardson.

"Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates" opens in theaters on July 8th.

20th Century Fox has released the first trailer and poster for the comedy "Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates". Directed by Jake Szymanski ("7 Days in Hell"), the film stars Zac Efron and Adam Devine as two hard-partying brothers who are forced by their parents to find respectable dates to take to their sister's wedding. The two decide that it would be a good idea to advertise their situation on national television. Unfortunately, the boys are about to get outsmarted and out-partied by two women, played by Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plaza, hoping for a wild getaway.

"Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates" opens in theaters on July 8th.
