Adios Amigo 1975 New On Bluray

Product Description: A charismatic conman and a straight-shooting cowboy join forces in this comedic Western, delivering a blend of action, humor, and adventure in the Old West. Featuring legendary comedian Richard Pryor and Blaxploitation icon Fred Williamson, this buddy comedy challenges the genre's norms with its improvisational dialogue and African-American leads. Their chaotic escapades across saloons, bandit camps, and dusty towns create a unique mix of laughs and thrills.

objective-burma-1945-new-on-bluray

Product Description: Mission accomplished! Errol Flynn, who brought boyish bravado to The Adventures of Robin Hood, Dodge City, Gentleman Jim and other screen yarns, turns in a mature, acclaimed performance as the leader of a paratrooper patrol stranded in Burma. It’s “one of the few features of which I am proud,” Flynn later said. There’s reason for pride. “This is one of the finest World War II films made during the war,” The Movie Guide says. “One of the best war movies,” Guide for the Film Fanatic’s Danny Peary wrote, “and among the grimmest.” Raoul Walsh directs the hard-hitting action, shot in rugged California locations so similar to Burma that veterans of that campaign refused to believe the crew hadn’t somehow sneaked into Asia.

chain-lightning-1950-new-on-bluray

Product Description: Matt Brennan knows how to open eyes to the potential of the experimental jet, the JA-3. He'll pilot it from Nome over the North Pole to Washington DC and land it on the Pentagon's lap. The distance is beyond the JA-3's tested range. Nor can the craft provide the pressurization needed for flight at 80,000 feet. But Brennan has some modifications in mind. And the courage to put them to the test. Humphrey Bogart plays Brennan in Chain Lightning's lofty mix of adventure and romance. Eleanor Parker, as a World War II flame who reenters Brennan's life, helps fuel the romance. And the adventure takes wing with a story that, like Breaking the Sound Barrier, The McConnell Story and other postwar films, taps into the era's fascination with jet aviation. Cleared for takeoff.

when-we-were-kings-1996-new-on-dvd-and-bluray

Product Description: In 1974, Leon Gast (Our Latin Thing) traveled to Africa to film Zaire 74, a music festival planned to accompany an unprecedented sports spectacle: the Rumble in the Jungle, in which late-career underdog Muhammad Ali would contend with the younger powerhouse George Foreman for the boxing heavyweight championship title—“a fight between two blacks in a black nation, organized by blacks,” as a Kinshasa billboard put it. When the main event was delayed, extending Ali’s stay in Africa, Gast wound up amassing a treasure trove of footage, capturing the wildly charismatic athlete training for one of the toughest bouts of his career while basking in his role as black America’s proud ambassador to postcolonial Africa. Two decades in the making, When We Were Kings features interviews with Norman Mailer and George Plimpton that illustrate the sensational impact of the fight, rounding out an Academy Award–winning portrait of Ali that captures his charm, grace, and defiance.

going-my-way-1944-new-on-bluray

Product Description: A winner of seven Academy Awards*, the irresistible Going My Way lights up the screen as beautifully as it warms up the heart. Bing Crosby shines as Father O'Malley, a young priest new to an established but financially troubled parish. When his philosophies conflict with those of the curmudgeonly Father Fitzgibbon (Barry Fitzgerald), the unflappable Father O'Malley perseveres — eventually winning over his gruff superior and the parish with his fresh, inspirational approach.

Massively successful with critics, at the box office, and on the record charts (thanks in no small part to the timeless tune "Swinging On A Star"), Going My Way is an undeniable Hollywood classic.

* 1944: Best Picture, Best Actor in a Leading Role (Bing Crosby), Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Barry Fitzgerald), Best Director, Best Writing (Original Story), Best Writing (Screenplay), Best Music (Original Song)

box-office-guardians-of-the-galaxy-get-on-up

Marvel and Disney are probably celebrating right now as the results for the weekend box-office were announced and their new space opera demolished the competition and broke records in its first three days in theaters. "Guardians of the Galaxy" defied all expectations and grossed $94 million in its first weekend, becoming the biggest opening ever for the month of August. It's even better when you think about the fact that while it's based on a Marvel comic book, it's nowhere near as popular as Captain America or Iron Man. Great reviews (92% on Rottentomatoes) and an amazing result at the box-office are great reasons for a sequel and a tie-in with the Avengers series.

The other wide release of the week, the James Brown biopic "Get On Up" landed in third place with $14 million, a decent, but not spectacular, opening for the film which is reported to have cost around $30 million.

New movie clips for James Brown biopic GET ON UP

A batch of nine new clips for the James Brown biopic "Get on Up" have been released. Directed by Tate Taylor ("The Help"), the film stars Chadwick Boseman ("42") as the Godfather of Soul and it chronicles the artist's rise from extreme poverty to becoming one of the most influential musicians in history. The cast also features Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Nelsan Ellis, Lennie James, Tika Sumpter, Jill Scott and Dan Aykroyd.

So far the film is earning rave reviews, and Boseman is getting most of the praise for his "dynamite-powered portrayal of Brown". Reading all these positive reviews, I could feel the Oscar buzz surrounding Chadwick Boseman, who is very close to scoring another big hit after last year's "42", the Jackie Robinson that put Boseman in the spotlight as a rising star.

"Get On Up" opens in theaters on August 1st.

Chadwick Boseman
James Brown
Chadwick Boseman has signed on to star as James Brown, The Godfather of Soul, in a biopic directed by Tate Taylor ("The Help") and produced by Oscar winner Brian Grazer ("24", "Frost/Nixon", "Apollo 13"). The film, titled "Get on Up", has been in the making for over a decade, but now that a lead actor has been found, the production is being fast-tracked. There are also rumors floating around that Taylor will also bring back a few of the cast members from "The Help" - Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer and Nelsan Ellis. The script has been written by Jez and John-Henry Butterworth ("Fair Game") and will detail James Brown's impoverished childhood and his rise to fame in the 1960s and 1970s. Mick Jagger, Erica Huggins and Victoria Pearman will co-produce the biopic. The release date has been set for October 17, 2014. Here is the official press release:
"In his follow-up to the four-time Academy Award®-nominated blockbuster The Help, Tate Taylor directs 42’s Chadwick Boseman as James Brown in GET ON UP. Based on the incredible life story of the Godfather of Soul, the film will give a fearless look inside the music, moves and moods of Brown, taking audiences on the journey from his impoverished childhood to his evolution into one of the most influential figures of the 20th century.

Academy Award® winner Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind, 8 Mile) and Erica Huggins (Flightplan) produce for Imagine Entertainment, with Mick Jagger and Victoria Pearman (Shine a Light) producing under their Jagged Films banner. Under his Wyolah Films label, Taylor also serves as a producer on GET ON UP, while Wyolah’s John Norris executive produces alongside Trish Hofmann and Peter Afterman."
