Brendan Fraser to Star Opposite Andrew Scott in World War II D-Day Thriller PRESSURE
Oscar winner Brendan Fraser ("The Whale") has signed on to star as Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower in the upcoming historical thriller "Pressure" from Working Title and Studiocanal. The film will be directed by Anthony Maras ("Hotel Mumbai") from a script co-written by Maras and David Haig, based on Haig's own play. Production is expected to begin in the UK this September.

THe film chronicles the true story of Britain's Chief Meteorological Officer James Stagg, played in the movie by BAFTA winner Andrew Scott ("Ripley", "All of Us Strangers"), whose job it was to inform Eisenhower of weather conditions that would make or break their Normandy invasion. The complex decision-making was critical in the fate of the war and the course of history.

Here is the play's official synopsis:
"In the 72 hours leading up to D-Day, all the pieces are in place except for one key element — the British weather. Britain’s Chief Meteorological Officer James Stagg is called upon to deliver the most consequential forecast in history, locking him into a tense standoff with the entire Allied leadership. The wrong conditions could devastate the largest-ever seaborne invasion, while any delay risks German intelligence catching on. With only his trusted aide Captain Kay Summersby to confide in, and haunted by a catastrophic D-Day rehearsal, the final decision rests with Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower. With only hours to go, the fate of the war and the lives of millions hang in the balance."

objective-burma-1945-new-on-bluray

Product Description: Mission accomplished! Errol Flynn, who brought boyish bravado to The Adventures of Robin Hood, Dodge City, Gentleman Jim and other screen yarns, turns in a mature, acclaimed performance as the leader of a paratrooper patrol stranded in Burma. It’s “one of the few features of which I am proud,” Flynn later said. There’s reason for pride. “This is one of the finest World War II films made during the war,” The Movie Guide says. “One of the best war movies,” Guide for the Film Fanatic’s Danny Peary wrote, “and among the grimmest.” Raoul Walsh directs the hard-hitting action, shot in rugged California locations so similar to Burma that veterans of that campaign refused to believe the crew hadn’t somehow sneaked into Asia.

in-harms-way-1965-new-on-bluray

Product Description: Producer-Director Otto Preminger’s epic treatment of the bombing of Pearl Harbor details the devastating attack on the Hawaiian naval base as well as the explosive, behind-the-scenes stories. An awesome cast – including John Wayne, Kirk Douglas, Patricia Neal, Henry Fonda, Carroll O’Connor, Burgess Meredith, Paula Prentiss, Dana Andrews and a host of other notables – is interwoven into this account of the attack itself, as well as into the triumphs and tragedies of disobeyed orders, the American counter-offensive, father-son reunions, battles at sea, and layers of romantic entanglements. It’s a story that’s been told and re-told, but perhaps never so completely.
