Trevante Rhodes to Star as Mike Tyson in Hulu Biopic Series

"Moonlight" and "The Predator" star Trevante Rhodes has signed on to play controversial heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson in the eight-part limited series "Iron Mike"

The series, which hails from "I, Tonya" writer Steven Rogers and helmer Craig Gillespie, will explore the wild, tragic and controversial life and career behind one of the most polarizing figures in sports culture.

"Mixed-ish" showrunner Karin Gist will serve as executive producer and showrunner on the series. Rhodes will also executive produce alongside Rogers, Gillespie and Margot Robbie. Gillespie will direct.

Tyson has criticized the Hulu project, calling it "tone-deaf cultural misappropriation". He is producing a separate limited series based on his life directed by Antoine Fuqua and executive produced by Martin Scorsese, which will star Jamie Foxx in the lead role.

Jamie Foxx to Play Mike Tyson in Antoine Fuqua-Directed Limited Series

Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx ("Ray") is set to star as boxing legend Mike Tyson in an upcoming biographical miniseries. Simply titled "Tyson", the limited series is not currently set up at a network or streaming service. Foxx has been involved with the project since 2014, and last year he stated that he was deep into training for the role, but at the time it was meant to be a theatrical biopic.

The series will span the whole of Tyson's life. "Training Day" and "The Equalizer" helmer Antoine Fuqua will direct and executive produce. Martin Scorsese is onboard to executive produce. The pilot episode is written by Colin Preston, who is in the process of writing the full series.

Foxx is also set to executive produce alongside Sophie Watts and John Ryan Jr. on behalf of Tyson's Legends Only League, and Rick Yorn of LBI Entertainment. Azim Spicer of Legends Only League will serve as associated producer.

Here's Tyson's statement regarding the project:

"I have been looking to tell my story for quite some time. With the recent launch of Legends Only League and the excitement from fans following my return to the ring, now feels like the perfect moment. I look forward to collaborating with Martin, Antoine, Jamie, and the entire creative team to bring audiences a series that not only captures my professional and personal journey but also inspires and entertains."

Another eight-episode limited series based on the boxer's life is in the works at Hulu, but Tyson came out strongly against that series calling it "unauthorized" when it was announced, while also accusing the streamer of "tone-deaf cultural misappropriation".

THE LAST O.G. Season 3 Trailers and Clip

The third season of the comedy series "The Last O.G." has premiered on April 7, 2020 on TBS. Created by John Carcieri and Jordan Peele, the show follows an ex-con (Tracy Morgan) who is released from prison and returns to his old Brooklyn neighborhood to find that it has become gentrified and that his ex-girlfriend (Tiffany Haddish) is now married to a white man (Ryan Gaul) and is raising his twin children.

The new season features guest stars Mike Tyson, Katt Williams, J.B. Smoove, Sasheer Zamata, Marla Gibbs, John Amos, Zach Cherry, Chelsea Frei, Lord Jamar, Clifton Powell, Roy Wood Jr., H. Michael Croner, and Andrew Richardson, with appearances by Karrueche Tran and Chris Bosh.

Bruce Willis to Play Boxing Trainer of Mike Tyson in CORNERMAN

Bruce Willis ("Die Hard", "The Sixth Sense") has signed on to star as boxing trainer Cus D'Amato in the upcoming biopic "Cornerman". The film is set in early 1980s New York and it chronicles D'Amato's discovery of a 13-year-old Mike Tyson.

D'Amato was a legendary boxing coach and trained some of the greatest heavyweight world champions. In the twilight of his career, he opened a gym in Catskill, New York and that's where he met Tyson, who at the time was a young delinquent who used his fists to get into trouble, and forged him into the youngest-ever heavyweight world champion.

The film will be written, co-produced and directed by "Homeland" star Rupert Friend. Here's what Friend had to say about the biopic:

"Ultimately, this is a story about a deep love between two ferocious talents, each brave enough to admit their fears to the other, and so spur one another to greatness. It is a story about fighting for what you believe in, and a film that will make you question what strength really is.".

Production is expected to begin this fall. The casting for the role of Mike Tyson is still underway.

MEET THE BLACKS Trailers and Poster

Today we have the official trailers (green-band and red-band) and poster for the comedy "Meet the Blacks".

The film is a spoof of "The Purge" and it stars Mike Epps ("The Hangover") as the head of a family that decides to move from Chicago to a posh neighborhood in Beverly Hills when they come into some unexpected funds. What they don't realize is that they have arrived just in time for the Purge, the annual event when all crime is legal for twelve hours.

Directed by Deon Taylor, the film also stars Zulay Henao, Mike Tyson, George Lopez, Perez Hilton, Charlie Murphy, Bresha Webb and Andrew Bachelor.

"Meet the Blacks" opens in theaters on April 1st.

IP MAN 3 Trailer, Featurettes, Clip, Images and Posters

The martial arts action film "Ip Man 3" received a limited release in theaters in the U.S., so here are the official trailer, two featurettes, a clip, and a batch of images and posters.

Donnie Yen returns as Master Ip who is called upon once again to protect his city from ruthless gangster bent on taking control of the metropolis. The film also stars Mike Tyson, Lynn Hung, Jin Zhang, Patrick Tam and Kwok-Kwan Chan.

While the film doesn't have much of a plot, it nevertheless delivers big on the martial arts action, according to the critics. Reviews have been generally favorable with praise focused mostly on the fights and some unexpected moments of introspection.

Martin Scorsese to Direct Mike Tyson Biopic Starring Jamie Foxx

Some time ago it was reported that a Mike Tyson biopic was in the works. The film would star Jamie Foxx ("Ray") as Tyson and the script would be written by Terence Winter ("The Wolf of Wall Street"). Now we have confirmation that the film will be directed by none other than Martin Scorsese. This would be the directors' first boxing movie since "Raging Bull" which earned Robert De Niro an Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role. The announcement of sorts came from Foxx who recently said the following in an interview:

"I just went in with Paramount with Mike Tyson. So I’m going to do the Mike Tyson story. Listen, to be in the same room pitching Mike Tyson to Paramount, Mike Tyson is on one side, I’m on the other side and doing Mike Tyson at the same time. And Martin Scorsese at the helm. This will be the first boxing movie that Martin Scorsese has done since Raging Bull."

Jamie Foxx to Play Mike Tyson in Biopic Written by BOARDWALK EMPIRE Creator

Jamie Foxx ("The Amazing Spider-Man 2") is attached to star as Mike Tyson in a currently untitled movie about the boxer which will be written by "The Wolf of Wall Street" writer and "Boardwalk Empire" creator Terence Winter. Variety reports that it is unknown at this time what the movie's focus will be, but they acknowledge that Winter "has plenty of material to cover over the past 30 years" of the boxer's life. The biopic is still in its inception phase, so no other details are available as the producers are looking for a studio to distribute. Jamie Foxx can also be seen this Christmas in the musical remake "Annie".

Sneak Peek Clip for SCARY MOVIE 5

A new preview clip has been released for "Scary Movie 5". It's a sketch from the movie featuring Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan which spoofs "Paranormal Activity". It's kind of lame, but warrants a few chuckles. Sheen and Lohan do a bit of self-deprecating humor in this clip, which is fun, but unnecessary, and further confirms the stunt casting in this movie. "Scary Movie 5" also stars Ashley Tisdale, Heather Locklear, Katt Williams and Sarah Hyland. The release date is April 12, 2013.

A new trailer has been released for "Scary Movie 5". There's not much to be said about the movies in this franchise. They're not in the least funny and are increasingly pointless with each new installment. Part five is no exception, poking fun at new horror flicks such as "Mama" and "Evil Dead", as well as past hits such as "Inception", "Black Swan" and the first "Paranormal Activity", but the jokes are lame and poorly delivered. In any case, "Scary Movie 5" stars Ashley Tisdale, Heather Locklear, Katt Williams, Sarah Hyland, Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan. The release date is April 12, 2013.
