point-break-2015-movie-clips-images

The "Point Break" remake is now in theaters, so here are seven new clips and a huge batch of fifty-seven images from the film.

The remake has been slammed by critics for being an unimaginative update that amplifies the stunts and action sequences but is otherwise devoid of genuine thrills and lacks pretty much everything that made the original a great thriller. It feels more like a remake of "The Fast and the Furious", which in turn was an unofficial "Point Break" remake of sorts. In fact, some critics even admitted that the first installment in the "Fast & Furious" franchise was a more fitting remake than this one.

Directed by Ericson Core, the film stars Edgar Ramirez, Luke Bracey, Ray Winstone, Teresa Palmer and Delroy Lindo.

New Point Break (2015) Trailer and Posters

A new trailer and five posters for the "Point Break" remake have been released online. The new trailer is a lot more exciting than the first one, with even more crazy stunts, and the posters are as colorful as I would have expected the film's cinematography to be. The filmmakers, however, opted for washed-out dull colours, which still bothers me. This is the directorial debut for "The Fast and the Furious" cinematographer Ericson Core and it stars Edgar Ramirez, Luke Bracey, Ray Winstone, Teresa Palmer and Delroy Lindo.

"Point Break" opens in theaters on December 25th.

Point Break Remake Reimagined Featurette

So soon after the first trailer for the "Point Break" remake, we also have the first making of featurette titled "Reimagined". The 4-minute video provides quite a lengthy look at how the remake is going to be much bigger in scope and set pieces than the original. And while everything on display looks awesome (although I still hate the bland colors), I worry that the movie has nothing of the original apart from the title and character names. The film is directed by "The Fast and the Furious" cinematographer Ericson Core and it stars Edgar Ramirez, Luke Bracey, Ray Winstone, Teresa Palmer and Delroy Lindo.

"Point Break" opens in theaters on December 25th.

Point Break Remake Trailer, Poster and Images

The first trailer, posters and images for the "Point Break" remake have been released online. The film stars Luke Bracey as Johnny Utah (formerly played by Keanu Reeves), a young FBI agent who infiltrates a team of thrill seeking elite athletes, led by the charismatic Bodhi (Edgar Ramirez), who are suspected of carrying out a string of staggering crimes that kill innocent people and send the world's economy into a tailspin. Bodhi's role was played by Patrick Swayze in Kathryn Bigelow's original film.

The updated version looks more like a "Fast & Furious" movie than an actual remake, although 2001's "The Fast and the Furious" was in many ways similar to "Point Break". Which is funny considering F&F cinematographer Ericson Core is directing this. I don't care much for the over-the-top action scenes and bad CGI, but I absolutely hate the gloomy color palette that the filmmakers probably believe will make the movie look cool. It doesn't. It just looks lifeless. And the characters are supposed to live life to the fullest, so I would imagine they should have gone with some brighter, intense cinematography, instead of this bland mess. And speaking of characters, Bodhi as played by Ramirez seems to be anything but the charismatic leader he's supposed to be. It's also a bit weird how they decided to change hairstyles between the two protagonists. Bodhi now has the dark hair while Utah has the long blonde hairdo. If that's the best they can think of for a remake, they should have just given up on it.

The remake also stars Ray Winstone, Teresa Palmer and Delroy Lindo. "Point Break" opens in theaters on December 25th (2D and 3D).

The Gunman movie clips

Pierre Morel's "The Gunman" opens today in theaters and we have six new clips from the action thriller. The film stars Sean Penn in what is designed to be an action vehicle for the 54-year-old actor, the same as "Taken" was for Liam Neeson. Unfortunately, critics don't seem to be taken with Penn's new movie which scored a 15% rating on Rottentomatoes.com. Many critics are calling the movie a misfire that fails to measure up to the veteran actor's talent. Most frequently cited failures include dull set pieces and a muddled narrative. The film also stars Javier Bardem, Idris Elba, Ray Winstone, Jasmine Trinca and Mark Rylance.

Trailer and poster for The Gunman Starring Sean Penn

Two new trailers and three character posters have been released for director Pierre Morel's "The Gunman". Morel is famous for directing Liam Neeson in "Taken" and now he appears determined to turn Sean Penn into an international action star through the same trademark formula. Penn stars as a former special forces soldier turned mercenary who must confront his former bosses when he decides to quit his job. The film also stars Javier Bardem, Idris Elba, Ray Winstone, Jasmine Trinca and Mark Rylance. And, yes, it looks like someone will get taken.

"The Gunman" opens in theaters on March 20, 2015.

russell-crowe-noah-clips

A new trailer and an exclusive clip have been released for Darren Aronofsky's Biblical epic "Noah". Some early reviews have been appearing online, most of them quite positive, which descrbed the film as a fantasy epic with phylosophical depths that will prove to be as divisive as Aronofsky's "The Fountain". Since I absolutely loved "The Fountain", this is great news for me. The film stars Russell Crowe, Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly, Logan Lerman, Ray Winstone, Douglas Booth, Kevin Durand, Martin Csokas, Mark Margolis and Anthony Hopkins.

"Noah" opens on March 28, 2014.

noah-2014-russell-crowe

The first trailers and poster for Darren Aronofsky's biblical epic "Noah" have been released. There are actually two trailers, the official trailer and the international version. As expected, it's an impressive looking film that will probably feature some wonderful performances from its great cast. The scope is very ambitious and if it gets everything right, it could become an instant classic and an example for future biblical flicks.

The film stars Russell Crowe, Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly, Logan Lerman, Ray Winstone, Douglas Booth, Kevin Durand, Martin Csokas, Mark Margolis and Anthony Hopkins.

On a side note, I couldn't help but think about "Troy" while watching these trailers. I hope that Aronofsky has succeeded in avoiding the trappings of such expensive Hollywood productions which sometimes forget about the human element amidst all the visual effects and epic battles, especially since there have been rumors that Aronofsky is having trouble with the studio regarding the final cut of the film. I'm betting that the studio wants more action, while Aronofsky is looking to achieve something deep and meaningful with this film.

"Noah" opens on March 28, 2014.
