DGA Awards 2023 Winners - The Complete List

The winners of the 75th annual Directors Guild Awards have been revealed, and top honors went to Daniel Kwan & Daniel Scheinert, the helmers of "Everything Everywhere All at Once". In the television categories, the winners include Sam Levinson for "Euphoria", and Bill Hader for "Barry".

Lily Rose-Depp to Star Opposite The Weeknd in HBO Drama THE IDOL

Lily-Rose Depp is set to star in the upcoming HBO drama series "The Idol" created by singer/songwriter The Weeknd and Sam Levinson ("Euphoria"). This will be the actress/model's first foray into television.

The show will follow a female pop singer (Depp) who starts a romance with an enigmatic L.A. club owner (The Weeknd) who is the leader of a secret cult. Joseph Epstein ("Health and Wellness") serves as writer, alongside Mary Laws ("Succession", "Preacher"), and showrunner. Levinson, Epstein, The Weeknd, Reza Fahim, Ashley Levinson, Kevin Turen, Nick Hall and Bron Studios' Aaron L. Gilbert will executive produce.

Rose-Depp is the daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis. She recently starred in "Voyagers", and will next be seen in Nathalie Biancheri's drama "Wolf", and "Silent Night", in which she will star opposite Keira Knightley, Matthew Goode and Kirby Howell-Baptiste.

The Weeknd to Develop and Star in HBO Series THE IDOL

The Weeknd aka Abel Tesfaye will take on his first major acting role in the drama series "The Idol" which is in development at HBO. The show is co-created by "Euphoria" creator Sam Levinson with Tesfaye and Reza Fahim, a former nightlife entrepreneur-turned-writer who is also The Weeknd's producing partner.

The show's story follows a female pop singer who starts a romance with an enigmatic L.A. club owner who is the leader of a secret cult.

Joseph Epstein ("Healt and Wellness") will serves as showrunner and will also write alongside Tesfaye and Mary Laws ("Succession", "Preacher"). The series will be executive produced by Levinson, Tesfaye, Fahim, Laws, Epstein, Ashley Levinson, Kevin Turen and Aaron L. Gilbert.

In May 2020, the singer appeared in an episode of the adult cartoon "American Dad" titled "A Starboy is Born", in which he voiced an animated version of himself, and he was also credited as a co-writer. He also played himself in the critically-acclaimed film "Uncut Gems" opposite Adam Sandler, and voiced a character in "Robot Chicken".

MALCOLM & MARIE (2021) - Trailer, Clip, Images and Poster

"Malcolm & Marie" is a romantic drama written and directed by Sam Levinson, the creator of the HBO series "Euphoria". This was the first Hollywood feature to be entirely written, financed and produced during the COVID-19 pandemic.

John David Washington and Zendaya star as a filmmaker and his girlfriend, whose relationship is tested after they return home from his movie premiere.

"Malcolm & Marie" was released in select theaters on January 29, 2021, followed by a digital release on February 5, 2021 on Netflix.

Ben Affleck, Ana de Armas in Talks to Star in Adrian Lyne's DEEP WATER

Ben Affleck ("Argo") and Ana De Armas ("Blade Runner 2049") are in talks to star in the psychological thriller "Deep Water". Based on Patricia Highsmith's novel of the same name, the film will be directed by Adrian Lyne ("Fatal Attraction", "Indecent Proposal", "Jacob's Ladder"), making it his first project since 2002's "Unfaithful", which starred Diane Lane in an Oscar-nominated performance.

Set in 1957, the story follows a small-town couple, who will be played by Affleck and de Armas, whose loveless marriage is held together only thanks to an arrangement in which she is allowed to take however many lovers she wishes, so long as she never abandons her family. But when the husband grows jealous, he concocts a murderous plot in which slowly, many of the lovers turn up dead.

The screenplay is written by Zack Helm ("Stranger Than Fiction") and Sam Levinson ("Euphoria"). New Regency's Arnon Milchan, Garrett Basch and Steven Zaillian are producing with Entertainment 360's Guymon Casady and Ben Forkner.

Affleck is also set to star in Warner Bros' unofficially titled "The Way Back" directed by Gavin O'Connor, and the crime drama "The Last Thing He Wanted" in which he stars opposite Anne Hathaway and Willem Dafoe. De Armas will play Marilyn Monroe in the upcoming Netflix film "Blonde", and will also appear in Bond 25.

"Euphoria" is new teen drama series created by Sam Levinson ("The Wizard of Lies", "Assassination Nation") based on the Israeli miniseries of the same name that ran between 2012 and 2013.

The show follows a group of high school students as they navigate drugs, sex, identity, trauma, social media, love and friendship. The cast features Zendaya, Maude Apatow, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, Storm Reid, Eric Dane, Angus Cloud and Maude Apatow.

"Euphoria" premiered on June 16, 2019 on HBO.

"Assassination Nation" is a dark action comedy written and directed by Sam Levinson ("Another Happy Day", "The Wizard of Lies"). The film focuses on the breakdown of a small town community and the ensuing murderous chaos triggered by a malicious data hack that exposes everyone's private lives. Surrounded by madness, a high school senior and her group of friends must fight to survive, while coping with the hack themselves.

The film stars Odessa Young, Hari Nef, Suki Waterhouse, Abra, Colman Domingo, Bill Skarsgard, Bella Thorne, Joel McHale, Anika Noni Rose and Maude Apatow.

"Assassination Nation" premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and opened in theaters on September 21, 2018. The film received mixed-to-positive reviews from critics. Its box-office prospects aren't looking good, as the film brought in only $420,000 from 1,403 theaters on Friday. Pundits expect a weak $1 million opening weekend.
