"War Machine" is a sci-fi action film directed by Patrick Hughes ("Red Hill", "The Hitman's Bodyguard") from a screenplay co-written by Hughes and James Beaufort. The film stars Alan Ritchson, Dennis Quaid, Stephan James, Jai Courtney, Esai Morales, Keiynan Lonsdale and Daniel Webber. It premiered on March 6, 2026 on Netflix. In Australia (Hughes is an Australian filmmaker) it was released theatrically on February 12th.

• Netflix's "Tyler Perry's Joe's College Road Trip". As usual, Perry writes, directs and stars.
• The dark satire "I Love Boosters" from rapper/filmmaker Boots Riley ("Sorry to Bother You"). The cast features Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, Taylour Paige, Poppy Liu, Eiza González, LaKeith Stanfield, Will Poulter, Don Cheadle, and Demi Moore.
• Amazon's Italian romantic thriller "Love Me Love Me" based on the Wattpad novel of the same name by Stefania S.. The film stars Mia Jenkins, Pepe Barroso, Luca Melucci and Andrea Guo.
• The anime fantasy film "Scarlet" from Mamoru Hosoda ("Summer Wars", "Wolf Children").
• The Sundance-winning drama "Ricky" starring Stephan James ("If Beale Street Could Talk"), Sheryl Lee Ralph, Titus Welliver, Maliq Johnson, Imani Lewis, and Simbi Kali. The film's director Rashad Frett took home the Directing Award at the 2025 Sundance FIlm Festival.

Stephan James To Play Carl Weathers In Biopic About the Making Of ROCKY

"If Beale Street Could Talk" actor Stephan James is set to star in Amazon MGM Studios' upcoming biographical drama "I Play Rocky", which chronicles the making of the 1977 boxing classic "Rocky". The film is directed by Oscar winner Peter Farrelly ("Green Book", "The Greatest Beer Run Ever") from a script by Peter Gamble.

The film tells the true story of an unknown actor with an unshakable belief that he wasn't just meant to write Rocky — he was meant to be Rocky Balboa. Told no at every turn, Sylvester Stallone bets everything on himself, holding the line on playing the lead against seemingly impossible odds. The result is the ultimate underdog story behind the ultimate underdog movie.

Anthony Ippolito will play the young Stallone, while James will play the role of Carl Weathers, Stallone's co-star in the franchise that remains one of the most iconic and financially successful sports film franchises of all time. Between the original six films and the three "Creed" spin-offs, the series has grossed $1.7 billion worldwide.

"I Play Rocky" will be produced by Toby Emmerich and Christian Baha, with FilmNation Entertainment handling production services and international sales.

James can next be seen starring opposite Alan Ritchson in Netflix's sci-fi action film "War Machine".

HOMECOMING Season 2 Trailers, Clips, Images and Posters

The second season of the psychological thriller series "Homecoming" has premiered on May 22, 2020 on Amazon Prime. While the first season was based on the fictional podcast of the same name created by Eli Horowitz and Micah Bloomberg, the second season deviates from the source material and features a new story and characters.

The new season is directed by Kyle Patrick Alvarez and it stars Janelle Monae and Chris Cooper. Stephan James and Hong Chau reprise their roles from the first season.

"If Beale Street Could Talk" is a romantic drama written and directed by Barry Jenkins ("Moonlight"), based on James Baldwin's novel of the same name.

Set in early 1970s Harlem, the film tells the story of a couple's unbreakable bond and the African-American family's empowering embrace, as told through the eyes of 19-year-old Tish Rivers (KiKi Layne). The cast also includes Stephan James, Regina King, Colman Domingo, Teyonah Parris, Ed Skrein, Diego Luna, Pedro Pascal and Dave Franco.

"If Beale Street Could Talk" premiered at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival and was released in select theaters on December 14, 2018. The film received mostly positive reviews from critics and has received three Golden Globe nominations for Best Picture (Drama), Screenplay and Actress in a Supporting Role (Regina King).

Focus Features has released the first trailer for the Jesse Owens biopic "Race". Stephan James ("Selma") stars as the track and field athlete and the film focuses on his participation at the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games. Directed by Stephen Hopkins ("Predator 2", "Lost in Space"), the film also stars Jason Sudeikis, Jeremy Irons, Carice van Houten, Shanice Banton and William Hurt

"Race" opens in theaters on February 19, 2016.
