"War Machine" is a sci-fi action film directed by Patrick Hughes ("Red Hill", "The Hitman's Bodyguard") from a screenplay co-written by Hughes and James Beaufort. The film stars Alan Ritchson, Dennis Quaid, Stephan James, Jai Courtney, Esai Morales, Keiynan Lonsdale and Daniel Webber. It premiered on March 6, 2026 on Netflix. In Australia (Hughes is an Australian filmmaker) it was released theatrically on February 12th.

Joe Cole Joins Alan Ritchson True Story Navy SEAL Movie

Joe Cole ("Peaky Blinders", "A Prayer Before Dawn") has joined the cast of Amazon MGM Studios' untitled Navy SEAL movie directed by Patrick Hughes ("War Machine", "The Hitman's Bodyguard"). The screenplay was written by Mark Semos, Ritchson and Jason Hall ("American Sniper", "Thank You For Your Service").

The film is based on an extraordinary true story from the final days of the Vietnam War, and it follows Navy SEAL Mike Thornton (Alan Ritchson) as he leads a desperate last stand after five men are trapped behind enemy lines in North Vietnam. Outnumbered by an army of 150 soldiers, they fight through relentless enemy fire before making a harrowing retreat into the South China Sea. With both a gravely wounded lieutenant and fellow soldier tied to him, Thornton swims for hours through hostile waters to reach safety, an act of valor that earned him the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Sylvester Stallone and D. Matt Geller produce for Balboa Productions alongside Todd Lieberman for Hidden Pictures, Alex Young, Ritchson's AllyCat Entertainment and Alan Rautbort.

Hughes and Ritchson previously worked together on the upcoming sci-fi action film "War Machine", which also stars Dennis Quaid, Stephan James, Jai Courtney, Esai Morales, Keiynan Lonsdale, and Daniel Webber.

Cole can next be seen in the action film "Subversion" alongside Chris Hemsworth and Lily James, Drew Kirsch's "He Bled Neon", the biographical drama "The Queen of Fashion", and Clio Barnard's "I See Buildings Fall Like Lightning" based on the book of the same name by Keiran Goddard.

Alan Ritchson to Play Navy SEAL Mike Thornton in Amazon MGM Studios Biographical War Drama

"Reacher" star Alan Ritchson has signed on to star in Amazon MGM Studios' upcoming Vietnam war film directed by Patrick Hughes ("The Hitman's Bodyguard", "The Expendables 3") from a script co-written by Mark Semos, Ritchson and Jason Hall ("American Sniper"). Ritchson and Hughes have already worked together on the upcoming sci-fi action thriller "War Machine".

The untitled Amazon MGM Studios movie follows NAVY Seal Mike Thornton during the final days of the Vietnam War as he leads a desperate last stand after five soldiers become stranded behind enemy lines in North Vietnam. Outnumbered by 150 enemy troops, they fight through relentless enemy fire before making a harrowing retreat into the South China Sea. With both a gravely wounded lieutenant and fellow soldier tied to him, Thornton swims for hours through hostile waters to reach safety, an act of valor that earned him the Congressional Medal of Honor.

The film falls under Ritchson's three-picture acting deal with the studio. Producers include Sylvester Stallone through Balboa Productions, Hidden Pictures' Todd Lieberman and Alex Young, Alan Ritchson's AllyCat Entertainment, and Alan Rautbort.

Ritchson recently finished filming "The Runner", co-starring Owen Wilson, the Amazon action comedy "Playdate" with Kevin James and Amazon's holiday family comedy "The Man with the Bag" opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger. He is currently in production on season four of "Reacher", and will also reprise his role in the untitled eleventh installment of "Fast and Furious". His latest movie "Motor City", which also stars Shailene Woodley and Ben Foster, recently premiered at TIFF.

THE HITMAN'S BODYGUARD Trailers, Clips, Featurette, Images and Posters

Directed by Patrick Hughes ("Red Hill", "The Expendables 3"), the action comedy "The Hitman's Bodyguard" stars Ryan Reynolds as a top tier bodyguard, who is tasked with guarding his nemesis, one of the world's most notorious hitmen (Samuel L. Jackson), so he can testify at the International Court of Justice against a ruthless Belarus dictator (Gary Oldman) accused of crimes against of humanity.

The film also stars Salma Hayek, Elodie Yung, Joaquim de Almeida, Kirsty Mitchell and Richard E. Grant. The screenplay was written by Tom O'Connor ("Fire With Fire"), and was on the 2011 Black List, Hollywood's list of top unproduced scripts.

"The Hitman's Bodyguard" opened in theaters on August 18th, 2017 and received mixed reviews from critics, who enjoyed the chemistry between Reynolds and Jackson, but hated the cliched plot. The film has grossed $8 million in its first day at the box-office and is expected to finish the weekend somewhere around $20 million.

THE EXPENDABLES 3 Motion Poster and New TV Spots

A new motion poster and three TV spots have been released for "The Expendables 3". Not much can be said about the sequel, except that it's going to feature an amazing cast of action stars and that it's going to attempt to top everything that's been done before in the franchise, but that's to be expected from any new installment.

What's interesting is that it was announced that the film will be rated PG-13 instead of R like the first two films. While the decision to slow down the violence is odd for this particular franchise, I'm not worried. "The Dark Knight" is often quoted as being the most violent PG-13 movie ever, and it's true that it managed to get away with a lot of brutal stuff, so I expect that "The Expendables 3" shouldn't have any problems displaying copious amounts of the rough stuff. Here is the full MPAA rating : "PG-13 for violence including intense sustained gun battles and fight scenes, and for language". There you go. It's definitely going to be violent and intense.

NEWS UPDATE: The Expendables 3, Scarlett Johansson, Daredevil, Robert De Niro and Shia LaBeouf

Sylvester Stallone has found a director for "The Expendables 3". The chosen one is newcomer Patrick Hughes, who broke out as a filmmaker with the modern western thriller "Red Hill". The third installment in the action franchise will once again star a number of veteran action stars and the new cast additions include Wesley Snipes and possibly Jackie Chan, if Stallone can convince the latter to join.

Scarlett Johansson will star in Luc Besson's new action thriller "Lucy". Johansson will star as "a woman who is forced to become a drug mule. But the drug instead goes into her system, transforming her into an ass-kicking machine. She can absorb knowledge instantaneously, is able to move objects with her mind and can’t feel pain and other discomforts.". The actress is currently filming "Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier", and the Besson flick will be next after work is done on the Marvel sequel.

Robert De Niro and Shia LaBeouf will star as a father and son spy team in "Spy's Kid". The film will most likely be directed by D.J. Caruso ("Disturbia"), who is currently in talks with Paramount, and is based on the true story of a convicted CIA veteran who, while in prison, used his son to continue his work.

Marvel Studios in now in control of all future adaptations of the "Daredevil" comics. The rights were previously owned by 20th Century Fox who made a first attempt in 2003 with Ben Affleck in the lead role, but the film was not a huge hit and received plenty of harsh reviews, so the studio was left trying to figure out how to reboot the franchise. Several directors were called upon in the last two years to bring Daredevil back, but all deals ultimately fell through. Fox was faced with the contractual deadline of having to deliver a new big screen adaptation, or forfeit the rights back to Marvel. Since they couldn't meet the deadline, they lost the rights. Maybe it's for the best. Marvel has a much better track record with films they produce, which includes the awesome hit "The Avengers" as well as "Thor", "Iron Man" and "Captain America".
