Prometheus Michael Fassbender Image

Although last year 20th Century Fox greenlit the sequel to Ridley Scott's "Prometheus", the 2012 "Alien" prequel/spin-off, it's only now that the project seems to be truly moving forward. The studio was somewhat worried about how the story should evolve, so they brought in relative newcomer Jack Paglen to pen the script for the sequel. Paglen has also written the script for the sci-fi thriller "Transcendence" which stars Johnny Depp and is directed by Christopher Nolan's long time cinematographer Wally Pfister. Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender are expected to reprise their roles from the first film, but it's unknown if Ridley Scott will return to direct the sequel. Initially Fox was aiming for a 2014 or 2015 release date.

The Amazing Spider-Man Sequel News

Sony Pictures has announced the release dates for two more "The Amazing Spider-Man" sequels. So, parts 3 and 4 will be released on June 10, 2016 and May 4, 2018, respectively. The first installment earned over $750M worldwide, so expectations are high for the sequels, and because the character's origin story has been rebooted and designed to unfold throughout several installments, it becomes clear why Sony already booked two more sequels. However, a minor setback occured on the set of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2". It seems that the part of Mary Jane has been cut from this sequel. The character, played by Shailene Woodley ("The Descendants") was supposed to make a brief appearance in the film and pave the way for a bigger role in the third installment. However, not only was MJ cut from "The Amazing Spider-Man 2", but Woodley dropped out and the part will be recast for the sequels. Director Marc Webb released a statement about this decision:
"I made a creative decision to streamline the story and focus on Peter and Gwen and their relationship. Shailene is an incredibly talented actress and while we only shot a few scenes with Mary Jane, we all love working with her."
Star Wars Episode 7 Sequel News

Bleeding Cool released a casting breakdown for "Star Wars: Episode 7" today, which they claim is 100% legit. The breakdown gives some general details about the lead characters for the sequel's casting process. Last week a rumors surfaced according to which the sequel's protagonists will be Han and Leia's twin children, but there's no way to really confirm whether that was just a rumor, or not. The breakdown is too vague. Here goes:
"Late-teen female, independent, good sense of humour, fit.

Young twenty-something male, witty and smart, fit but not traditionally good looking.

A late twentysomething male, fit, handsome and confident.

Seventy-something male, with strong opinions and tough demeanour. Also doesn’ t need to be particularly fit.

A second young female, also late teens, tough, smart and fit.

Forty something male, fit, military type.

Thirtysomething male, intellectual. Apparently doesn’t need to be fit."
Dumb and Dumber Sequel News

Fans of the Farrelly Brothers' "Dumb and Dumber" who were disappointed when Warner Bros. turned down the sequel should immediately read this and feel better. The sequel has been picked up by Universal Pictures and Red Granite Financing. The film will be called "Dumb and Dumber To" and the release is set for Summer 2014. It will be directed by the Farrelly Brothers and it will star Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels. The plot will focus on the pair's efforts to locate the Daniels' character's daughter. Peter Farrelly revealed some more story details in a recent podcast:
"We start in Rhode Island and we pick up today and explain what they’ve been doing the last 18 years. And there is something that happens and we get off to the races quickly." … "When you see Dumb and Dumber To, Dumb and Dumber 1 is better because you learn things in Dumb and Dumber To that you knew in Dumb and Dumber 1 but hadn’t put together. For instance, not giving away too much, Harry always gets revenge." … "And when you see the second one, it has a thing that you won’t see coming , and at the end of it, you’ll be like ‘oh my god, I just fell for the exact same thing'."

The Farrelly Brothers, the masters of raunchy comedy, the sick minds behind such classics as "There's Something About Mary" and "Me, Myself and Irene" put their wicked talents to the test once more with "Hall Pass", a weird little movie about two married men who take some time off from their wives (a week), with the consent of their spouses, of course. Hence the title. The men dive into a storm of forbidden pleasures, only to find things are not as simple as they once were. Don't worry about the movie not being outrageous enough, because it is. This is the Farrelly Brothers back in hard-R mode. But, the results are often mixed, especially because the brothers try too hard to cram the movie with over-the-top gross-out gags and their material doesn't feels as fresh as it once did. Still, it will satisfy your needs, if this is the kind of movie you need.
