2015-mtv-movie-awards-nominations-revealed

The nominees for the 2015 MTV Movie Awards have been announced. The MTV nominees cover some of last year's more popular films like "Guardians of the Galaxy", "Neighbors", "The Fault in Our Stars", "Lucy" and "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1", but also some of the films that we've seen at the Oscars like "Birdman", "Boyhood", "Selma", "Whiplash", "Gone Girl" and "American Sniper". The 2015 MTV Movie Awards will be hosted by Amy Schumer on April 12, 2015.

Whiplash (2014) new on DVD and Blu-ray

Product Description: Andrew Neyman is an ambitious young jazz drummer, single-minded in his pursuit to rise to the top of his elite east coast music conservatory. Plagued by the failed writing career of his father, Andrew hungers day and night to become one of the greats. Terence Fletcher, an instructor equally known for his teaching talents as for his terrifying methods, leads the top jazz ensemble in the school. Fletcher discovers Andrew and transfers the aspiring drummer into his band, forever changing the young man's life. Andrew's passion to achieve perfection quickly spirals into obsession, as his ruthless teacher continues to push him to the brink of both his ability-and his sanity.

The 72nd Golden Globes winners have been announced and the awards were pretty much split between each of the major contenders. "Boyhood" took home the awards for Best Drama, Best Director (Richard Linklater) and Supporting Actress (Patricia Arquette), while "The Grand Budapest Hotel" won Best Comedy or Musical. "Birdman" scored wins for leading actor Michael Keaton and Best Screenplay. As pretty much expected, Julianne Moore won Best Actress for "Still Alice", Eddie Redmayne nabbed a trophy for "The Theory of Everything" and J.K. Simmons took home the award for Best Supporting Role for his explosive performance in "Whiplash". In the television categories "Fargo" and "The Affair" won top honors.

The winners of the 2014 Sundance Film Festival have been announced. The festival's big winner is the drama "Whiplash" from writer/director Damien Chazelle. The film won both the Audience Award and the U.S. Dramatic Grand Jury Prize, just like last year's Sundance hit "Fruitvale Station". "Whiplash" is the story of a young musician (Miles Teller) who struggles to make it as a top jazz drummer. The film also stars J.K. Simmons and Melissa Benoist. Damien Chazelle's resume prior to "Whiplash" includes writing credits for "The Last Exorcism Part II" and the upcoming thriller "Grand Piano".
