Disney has revealed during its CinemaCon presentation that Hailee Steinfeld and Rashida JOnes will star as the leads of the studio's upcoming animated movie "Hexed". The film will mark the feature directorial debut of Josie Trinidad, the head of story of "Ralph Breaks the Internet" and "Zootopia", alongside Jason Hand ("Moana 2").
"Hexed" is a new original film that follows an impulsive and unconventional teenage girl named Billie (Steinfeld), who discovers secret magical abilities which, once unleashed, hurtle her into a spectacle-filled journey out of suburbia and into a vast witch realm called Hexe. Forced to team up with her cautious mother, Alice (Jones), they uncover family mysteries that could change the world of witches forever.
Roy Conli and Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster-Jones will serve as producers. Jared Bush is executive producing. The film, which is Disney's 65th animated feature, will be released in theaters on November 25, 2026.
During its presentation in Las Vegas to exhibitors, Disney unveiled footage from the film that featured Billie getting a personality test/interrogation by a book and quill, who invite her into a world of magic and wonder. The studio also debuted footage from its live-action "Moana", "The Devil Wears Prada 2", "Toy Story 5" and "Avengers: Doomsday".
