Archie Panjabi To Play DOCTOR WHO Villain In New Season From Disney+ And BBC

Emmy Award winner Archie Panjabi ("The Good Wife") has signed on to star as a villain in the upcoming second season of the BBC and Disney+ "Doctor Who" reboot, which is set to air in 2025. Details regarding her character remain under wraps.

Panjabi joins Ncuti Gatwa, the current doctor, and Millie Gibson, who plays his companion Ruby Sunday. In Season 1, The Doctor and Ruby travel across time and space, with adventures all the way from the Regency era in England, to war-torn future worlds. Throughout their adventures in the TARDIS – a time-traveling ship shaped like a police box – they encounter incredible friends and dangerous foes, including a terrifying bogeyman, and the Doctor’s most powerful enemy yet.

The long-running British series, which premiered on the BBC in 1963, follows an extraterrestrial being known as the Doctor. William Hartnell played the first Time Lord followed by 14 others including Tom Baker, Peter Capaldi, Matt Smith, David Tennant, Jodie Whittaker, Christopher Eccleston and Gatwa, among others.

The holiday special "Joy to the World" is set to air on Christmas Day on Disney+ and the BBC iPlayer in the UK. In the special Gatwa and Gibson will team up with "Bridgerton" standout Nicola Coughlan.

"Doctor Who" is produced by Bad Wolf, with BBC Studios for Disney Branded Television and BBC. Russell T. Davies is showrunner, executive producer and writer. Additional executive producers include Phil Collinson, Joel Collins, Julie Gardner and Jane Tranter.

Panjabi recently starred opposite Idris Elba in the Apple TV+ airline thriller "Hijack". Her other TV credits include "Departure, Blindspot, Snowpiercer" and "Under the Bridge".

"Under the Bridge" is a true crime drama miniseries developed by Quinn Shephard based on the book of the same name by Rebecca Godfrey. The cast includes Lily Gladstone, Riley Keough, Archie Panjabi, Chloe Guidry, Vritika Gupta, Izzy G, Aiyana Goodfellow and Ezra Faroque Khan. The miniseries premiered on April 17, 2024 on Hulu.

"Star Wars: The Bad Batch" is an animated series created by Dave Filoni ("The Mandalorian", "Star Wars: The Clone Wars"). The show is a spinoff of "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" and it follows a group of elite clone troopers with genetic mutations who take on daring mercenary missions in the aftermath of the Clone Wars. The voice cast features Dee Bradley Baker, Archie Panjabi, Michelle Ang, Freddie Prinze Jr., Ian McDiarmid, Ming-Na Wen and Tom Kane.

The series premiered on May 4, 2021 on Disney+.

DEPARTURE (2020) Series Trailer, Images and Poster

"Departure" is a British-Canadian drama series created and co-written by Vince Shiao, and directed by T.J. Scott. The six-episode series focuses on the the mystery of a passenger plane that vanishes over the Atlantic Ocean and the search for it. The show stars Archie Panjabi, Christopher Plummer, Kris Holden-Ried, Peter Mensah, Claire Forlani, Tamara Duarte, Rebecca Liddiard and Dougray Scott.

"Departure" premiered on July 19, 2019 on Universal TV, and it was released by NBC's streaming service Peacock on September 17, 2020. The series has been renewed for a second season.

"Know This Much Is True" is a miniseries written and directed by Derek Cianfrance ("Blue Valentine", "The Place Beyond the Pines"), based on the novel of the same name by Wally Lamb.

The limited series stars Mark Ruffalo as identical twin brothers Dominick and Thomas Birdsey, following them at different stages in their lives, beginning in their present with both brothers approaching middle-age, and through Dominick's flashbacks to their young adulthood. The cast also includes Melissa Leo, Rosie O'Donnell, Archie Panjabi, Juliette Lewis, Kathryn Hahn, Guillermo Diaz and Rob Huebel.

"I Know This Much Is True" premiered on May 10, 2020 on HBO.

"Run" is a new romantic comedy thriller series created by Vicky Jones and executive produced by Phoebe Waller-Bridge ("Fleabag").

The show stars Merritt Wever as Ruby Richardson, a woman looking to reinvent herself who decides to walk away from her ordinary life in the suburbs to travel across America with her old college boyfriend (Domhnall Gleeson) after receiving a text message from him to fulfill a pact they made 17 years ago.

The cast also includes Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Rich Sommer, Archie Panjabi and Tamara Podemski.

The earthquake movie "San Andreas" opens in theaters today, so here are eight new clips from the movie. The film has been getting mostly mixed reviews, but I wouldn't worry too much about that, because disaster flicks are meant to be brainless fun. I have a particular fondness for the genre at its most outrageous (see "Volcano"), so I'm looking forward to seeing this one. Directed by Brad Peyton ("Journey 2: The Mysterious Island"), the film stars Dwayne Johnson, Carla Gugino, Alexandra Daddario, Archie Panjabi, Paul Giamatti and Ioan Gruffudd.

31 New SAN ANDREAS Pictures

Today we have 31 new images from the earthquake movie "San Andreas". The Dwayne Johnson starrer amps up the usual disaster movie formula with an earthquake the size of Roland Emmerich's "2012". While the pictures aren't as generous with the catastrophic imagery as the trailers were, they do offer a great look at the film's cast which also includes Carla Gugino, Alexandra Daddario, Archie Panjabi, Paul Giamatti and Ioan Gruffudd. Brad Peyton ("Journey 2: The Mysterious Island") directs from a script by Carlton Cuse ("Bates Motel").

Warner Bros. has released the final trailer and poster for the disaster movie "San Andreas". The film stars Dwayne Johnson as a search and rescue helicopter pilot who teams up with his ex-wife (Carla Gugino) to save their daughter (Alexandra Daddario) after a devastating earthquake hits California. The new trailer actually adds a lot of new footage and finally reveals the "California Dreamin" cover sung by Sia. Directed by Brad Peyton ("Journey 2: The Mysterious Island"), the film also stars Ioan Gruffudd, Archie Panjabi, Kylie Minogue, Will Yun Lee, Paul Giamatti and Colton Haynes.
