"The Other Side of the Wind" is an experimental drama directed, co-written, co-produced and co-edited by Orson Welles. The film was shot intermittently between 1970 and 1976 and was intended to be Welles' comeback after two decades spent mostly in Europe. The film was never completed due to legal and financial complications. Following Welles' death in 1985, there were several attempts to finish the project, and the rights were eventually acquired by Royal Road in 2014. Overseen by actor and filmmaker Peter Bogdanovich, and produced by Frank Marshall, the film finally premiered at the 75th Venice International Film Festival and was released on November 2, 2018 via Netflix.

A satire of Hollywood, the film stars John Huston as a legendary film director who is struggling to forge his last great comeback as a major filmmaker. The cast also includes Bogdanovich, Oja Kodar, Susan Strasberg and Norman Foster.

"Indiana Jones 5" has been in development limbo for some years now and for a long time everyone thought that Disney, the new owners of the Lucasfilm properties, would just reboot it with a new lead actor. But now, the long-awaited fifth installment in the franchise has been officially announced and it won't be a reboot.

Disney released an official press release (below), in which they confirm that the new Indiana Jones film will be a sequel and that Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg will return alongside veteran producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall. Even more important is that we now have a release date: July 19, 2019. Maybe fans aren't too excited about the prospect of this turning out to be another "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skul" (which I personally enjoyed despite its obvious flaws), but this could also be a second chance to provide a fitting ending to the character's saga.

"Indiana Jones will return to the big screen on July 19, 2019, for a fifth epic adventure in the blockbuster series. Steven Spielberg, who directed all four previous films, will helm the as-yet-untitled project with star Harrison Ford reprising his iconic role. Franchise veterans Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall will produce.

“Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019,” said Alan Horn, Chairman, The Walt Disney Studios. “It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”

Famed archaeologist and explorer Indiana Jones was introduced in 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark – one of AFI’s 100 Greatest American Films of All Time – and later thrilled audiences in 1984’s Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, 1989’s Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The four films have brought in nearly $2 billion at the global box office.".

Chris Pratt to return for Jurassic World 2
Bryce Dallas Howard to return for Jurassic World 2
I guess when your movie grosses $1.5 billion worldwide, a sequel becomes inevitable. Such is the case for Universal and their huge hit "Jurassic World". The studio announced that their dino reboot will indeed get a sequel which will open in theaters on June 22, 2018. It was also revealed that Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will reprise their roles. While it is unknown if "Jurassic World" director Colin Trevorrow will return at the helm, it has been confirmed that he will help write the script with co-writer Derek Connolly. Trevorrow will also produce the sequel alongside Frank Marshall and Steven Spielberg. Here is the official press release:
"Executive producer Steven Spielberg and stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard return for Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment’s JURASSIC WORLD SEQUEL, a follow-up to one of the biggest blockbusters in the history of cinema. The film will be written by Jurassic World’s director, Colin Trevorrow, and Derek Connolly. Spielberg will be joined by Trevorrow as executive producer.".

Julia Stiles to reprise her role as Nicky Parsons in Bourne 5
As the new Bourne film is beginning to take shape with Paul Greengrass at the helm and Matt Damon in the lead role, we're beginning to hear news of other actors joining the project. According to the latest reports, franchise alum Julia Stiles is set to reprise her role as agency operative Nicky Parsons. The character has become an ally of sorts for Bourne throughout the series and it seems she will once again cross paths with the super-spy. It has also been reported that Alicia Vikander ("Ex Machina") is in talks for a role in the film, while Viggo Mortensen has been offered the role of the villain. According to producer Frank Marshall, the script has already been finished, which means that they're really moving fast. "Bourne 5" is scheduled for release on July 29, 2016.

Bad news for fans hoping for a new Indiana Jones movie. Last year there were reports that spoke of preparations for a new sequel. George Lucas revealed that he and Steven Spielberg discussed some ideas but couldn't find a MacGuffin. This week, in an interview, Spielberg's long-time collaborator and producer Frank Marshall talked about the status of the sequel, and it seems things aren't looking very good :
"I say, for me, [Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is] the last hurrah. I know that yes, we talk about it, but there’s no idea, there’s no MacGuffin. [About George Lucas] Yeah, no he isn’t [hungry to do another Indiana Jones]. And he’s obviously passing the baton to my wife [Kathleen Kennedy], so..."

Peter Jackson wants to turn "The Hobbit" into a trilogy. His intentions were initially revealed at this year's Comic-Con, but now it's official and he's taking the required steps with Warner Brothers to work out the logistics. This of course means that there will be need for additional filming to add content for a new film that will work as a companion for the two that Jackson is already working on : "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" (December 14, 2012) and "The Hobbit: There and Back Again" (December 13, 2013). According to some reports, Jackson intends on using the stories from the appendices of Tolkien's books. In a recent interview he stated the following :
"we haven’t just adapted The Hobbit; we’ve adapted that book plus great chunks of his appendices and woven it all together. The movie explains where Gandalf goes; the book never does. We’ve explained it using Tolkien’s own notes. That helped inform the tone of the movie, because it allowed us to pull in material he wrote in The Lord of the Rings era and incorporate it with The Hobbit. So we kept the charm and the whimsy of the fairy tale quality through the characters. Through the dwarves and Bilbo, who is more of a humorous character. He doesn’t try to be funny but we find him funny and find his predicament more amusing than that of Frodo in The Lord of the Rings. That was more serious. So the whimsy is there, but tonally I wanted to make it as similar to The Lord of the Rings, because I wanted it to be possible for the people, the crazy people in the world who want to watch these films back to back one day…"

Screenwriter Dustin Lance Black ("Milk", "J. Edgar") was hired to write the script for "Earthquake", a disaster flick produced by J.J. Abrams ("Lost", "Super 8"). The movie will not be a remake of the 1974 movie of the same name, but will share a similar subject.


"Captain America : Winter Soldier", Marvel's sequel to "The First Avenger", will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo ("You, Me and Dupree", "Community"). A few interisting tidbits were revealed by Anthony Russo in the following interview :
"I mean, we’re trying to grow him as a character, and certainly he’s come a long way, from where he started in pre-World War 2 to where he is in modern-day America. So the character has room for growth because of that huge journey that he’s been on, Number 1. Number 2, part of the appeal of these movies is the ensemble. Captain America isn’t the only character in the film, there are other characters that are perhaps lighter in nature (...) I can say in general that there’s sort of a darker, edgier sensibility at work there that we found appealing, and that is going find its way into Captain [America] in the modern day (...) [Captain America] is in a very different time and place. For as well as that style worked for his World War 2 experience and the origin of Cap—part of the fun of picking a guy out of one time period and plopping him down in another is that all bets are off. The whole world is different, and that’s part of the struggle of the character and the challenge the character faces."

"Gangster Squad", the crime drama starring Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Nick Nolte, Josh Brolin, Giovanni Ribisi and Emma Stone, has been delayed until January 11, 2013, due to the recent shooting that occured at the premiere of "The Dark Knight Rises" which resulted in the death of 12 people. The movie features a scene in which a bunch of mobsters start firing on a theater audience through the movie screen and since the scene was important in the structure of the plot, it will require reshoots, which take time, hence the delay.

"Jurassic Park 4" is taking great leaps forward, according to producer Frank Marshall. Last week, screenwriters Amanda Silver & Rick Jaffa ("Rise of the Planet of the Apes") were brought onboard to pen the script and now Marshall has stated in an interview that the movie will be "on the screen within two years." He also went on to say that it's definitely going to be a sequel, not a reboot, or remake and that he was really excited about using the new advances in visual effects technology for the new movie : "That’s what’s gonna be great about it, technology’s taken a leap now that we can really do some great things". Earlier this year it was confirmed that Steven Spielberg will not return to direct, so they'll also have to figure out who to place at the helm of the franchise.


Among the many reveals at this year's Comic-Con, there were also some interesting details about the Captain America sequel. First of all, the movie is going to be called "Captain America : The Winter Soldier". Secondly, you can see below the new logo title. Chris Evans is confirmed to return as the protagonist and Anthony Mackie ("The Hurt Locker") may also be cast as Falcon, "one of mainstream comics’ first black superheroes and perhaps its first American one." So far, Marvel is keeping the lid on many of the movie's juicier details. "Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be released on April 4, 2014.



Director Andrew Stanton ("WALL·E", "Finding Nemo") is returning to Pixar after failing at the box-office with his live-action debut, the sci-fi epic "John Carter". Stanton is officially hired to direct "Finding Nemo 2", Pixar's sequel to the 2003 megahit which earned more than $850 million dollars worldwide. On September 14, "Finding Nemo" will be re-released in 3D.


After a lengthy absence from major big screen projects Robin Williams has two new projects lined up for 2013. The first one is director Lee Daniels' drama "The Butler", in which Williams will play President Dwight D. Eisenhower, and the second is "The Angriest Man in Brooklyn", a comedy directed by Phil Alden Robinson ("Field of Dreams") which also stars Mila Kunis and Peter Dinklage. He will also play a supporting role in the upcoming 2012 comedy "The Big Wedding" which stars Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton and Katherine Heigl. "Robin Williams is set to begin production on two major film projects in the coming months.

The Academy Award winner has been cast as ‘President Dwight D. Eisenhower’ in Lee Daniel’s “The Butler”, joining an ensemble that includes Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, Vanessa Redgrave, Terrence Howard, John Cusack, Alan Rickman, Jane Fonda and Colman Domingo, among others.

Scheduled to begin shooting later this month in New Orleans, the film is based on the life of Eugene Allen, a White House servant who worked for eight First Families over three decades. Danny Strong wrote the script with Daniels based on Wil Haygood’s Washington Post article about Allen. The film will be produced by Daniels with Hilary Shor, Cassian Elwes and Pam Williams for Laura Zisken Productions.

Additionally, Williams has officially signed on to star in the comedy, “The Angriest Man In Brooklyn,” opposite Mila Kunis, Peter Dinklage, Melissa Leo and James Earl Jones.

The film is the story of a stand-in doctor who mistakenly tells an obnoxious patient he has 90 minutes to live. The medic tries desperately to locate the man after her comments sends him on a contrite tour of the city to right all the wrongs in his life.

Phil Alden Robinson will direct from a screenplay by Daniel Taplitz. Landscape’s Bob Cooper and Tyler Mitchell are producing with Daniel J Walker. Jean-Charles Levy serves as executive producer.

Production is set to kick off in September in Brooklyn, New York."
