Mudbound 2017 New On Dvd And Bluray Criterion Collection

Product Description: In the Mississippi Delta of the 1940s, two farming families—one of white landholders, one of Black tenant farmers—are bound by the unforgiving soil they share as they struggle to survive amid the upheavals of World War II and the poisonous hatred of the Jim Crow South. Each family sends a young man off to battle; when they return home, scarred, and find a common bond, the community is ripped apart. Writer-director Dee Rees, with cowriter Virgil Williams, crafts a uniquely American tragedy, imbuing bitter historical realities with a timeless weight. Featuring bone-deep performances from Rees’s ensemble cast—including Carey Mulligan, Mary J. Blige, Jason Mitchell, Rob Morgan, Garrett Hedlund, Jason Clarke, and Jonathan Banks—and backed by Rachel Morrison’s darkly burnished cinematography, Mudbound is a searing humanist study of inheritance, based upon Hillary Jordan’s novel.

billy-lynns-long-halftime-walk-teaser-trailer-and-poster

After winning the Academy Award for Best Director with "Life of Pi" in 2013, Ang Lee returns with the war drama "Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk".

Based on the novel written by Ben Fountain, the film tells the story of 19-year-old Billy Lynn (Joe Alwyn), who is brought home after a harrowing Iraq battle and celebrated alongside his squadmates as heroes during the halftime show of a Thanksgiving Day football game. In the meantime, flashbacks reveal what really happened to his squad, contrasting the realities of the war with America's perceptions. Vin Diesel, Kristen Stewart, Chris Tucker, Garrett Hedlund and Steve Martin co-star.

Lee promises a ground-breaking experience as the film is shot at 120 frames per second in 4K native 3D that will offer moviegoers an unprecedented experience in terms of realism and visual detail. Even from the brief snippets of footage from the trailer, it looks visually stunning. Here's what Kristen Stewart had to say about Lee's ground-breaking technique:
"An insanely high frame rate would give you like a slow motion effect, but if you put it in real time you’re just getting more information than we’re used to. But usually if you do that without whatever process he’s doing—which I have no idea—it makes it look like reality TV, it makes it crisp in a way that actually detaches you. [But] he messes with depth of field and makes this 3D situation where—usually the way a lens works, you control where the focal point is, [but] in this case everything’s in focus… So when you watch the movie you can decide, almost as if you’re there in person, what you want to look at, which has just never been seen before on film."
"Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk" opens in theaters on November 11th.

Also in limited release you can watch Keanu Reeves get tortured by two hot chicks in "Knock Knock", and get meta with 80s horror flicks in "The Final Girls". More about each movie after the jump.

Pan (2015) Movie Clips

With Joe Wright's "Pan" hitting theaters today, Warner Bros. has released eight clips for the Peter Pan prequel. The film has been slammed pretty hard by critics and is shaping up to become one of the year's worst movies. For example, Peter Travers from Rolling Stone calls the film a "joyless, juiceless theme-park ride from hell." It also afforded reviewers the chance to regret Spielberg's "Hook", which speaks volumes about how bad this movie is.

The film stars Hugh Jackman, Levi Miller, Garrett Hedlund, Rooney Mara, Adeel Akhtar, Amanda Seyfried, Jack Charles, Taejoo Na, Nonso Anozie, Kathy Burke, Cara Delevingne, Kurt Egyiawan, Lewis MacDougall and Leni Zieglmeier.
