Margaret Qualley, Michael Shannon And Drew Starkey To Star In Jeff Nichols' Horror Film KING SNAKE

Margaret Qualley ("The Substance"), Michael Shannon ("Man of Steel", "The Shape of Water") and Drew Starkey ("Outer Banks) are set to star in the Southern gothic horror film "King Snake" directed by Jeff Nichols ("Mud", "The Bikeriders").

The film follows a young couple (Qualley and Starkey) who inherit a farm in rural Arkansas and must conquer the demons, both physical and metaphysical, that haunt its legacy. Forces of good and evil collide in a terrifying film where real-world challenges crash headlong into otherworldly creatures and myths.

Nichols, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Sarah Green will produce through Tri-State Pictures in association with Range Media Partners. FilmNation is financing the film and launching sales out of the American Film Market.

Nichols, Green and Kavanaugh-Jones said the following in a statement: "We are extremely excited to be partnering with FilmNation once again, having fortified a strong creative relationship with them over the years. FilmNation has an exceptional track record supporting unique, innovative voices and auteur filmmakers, having produced and financed some of the most remarkable, award-winning films of our time. Basner added: "Jeff is a singular filmmaker and King Snake will bewitch and enthrall audiences around the world with a startling new vision of the supernatural forces that hover just beyond our everyday perceptions".

LOVING Trailer, Clips, Images and Poster

Written and directed by Jeff Nichols ("Take Shelter", "Mud"), the biopic "Loving" chronicles the courage and commitment of an interracial couple, played by Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga, who married and then spent the next nine years fighting for the right to live as a family in their hometown. The film also stars Will Dalton, Terri Abney, Alano Miller and Chris Greene.

"Loving" opens in theaters on November 4th.

The film received a solid critical repection. Although it might not appeal to everyone, it's well acted, ambitious and more thrilling than its modest appearance might suggest.

Kirsten Dunst to Star in Sci-Fi Film MIDNIGHT SPECIAL

Kirsten Dunst ("Melancholia", "Spider-Man") has signed on to star in the sci-fi film "Midnight Special". The film is written and directed by Jeff Nichols ("Mud", "Take Shelter") and the story focuses on a father and his 8-year-old-son who must go on the run when the father realizes that his son has special powers. Michael Shannon ("Boardwalk Empire", "Man of Steel") and Joel Edgerton ("Warrior", "The Great Gatsby") have also joined the cast. Last year, Jeff Nichols offered some details about the project and compared it to John Carpenter's 1984 sci-fi classic "Starman":

"Right now I’m working on this one called Midnight Special. I won’t talk too much about it now, other than to say I kind of want to make a 1980s John Carpenter movie. If I had to choose one of those it would be Starman.

It’s interesting because I’m doing the same thing I did in the summer of 2008 where I’m writing two scripts at once. And so Midnight Special is going to be a genre film put through whatever bizarre filter is me. And then I’m writing this other movie based on a documentary that will hopefully be austere, quiet, sad, and beautiful."
