Michael Bay To Direct Movie About Dramatic Us Pilot Rescue In Iran

Michael Bay ("Pearl Harbor", "Transformers", "13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi") is set to reteam with Universal Pictures for a new true story military movie about the recent "Operation Epic Fury" rescue in Iran. In April, a rescue mission took place to save two pilots after their F-15E Strike Eagle was struck down by Iranian forces. "Operation Epic Fury" is the codename given to the military campaign against Iran that President Trump started in February 2026.

Bay will reunite with "13 Hours" screenwriter Scott Gardenhour and producer Erwin Stoff. Bay and Stoff will produce the film, while Gardenhour is adapting the script from Mitchell Zuckoff's upcoming book about the incident, which is set to be published by HarperCollins in 2027. Bay most recently directed "Ambulance" for Universal and has a production deal with the studio.

The rescue operation ended with the daring recovery of the pilot as well as the weapons system officer from hostile forces behind enemy lines. The mission made global headlines and caught Bay's eye as he was deciding on what his next directorial project will be.

Bay said the following about the project: "I've had an amazing partnership over my 30-year career working with the Department of War and amazing U.S. military members. In my film 13 Hours, no rescue force answered the call for help. This film is about everyone who answered the call in one of the most complex, intricate and high-stakes operations in recent history. It celebrates the true heroism and unwavering dedication of our service members".

Shredded Horror Movie From Quiet Place Purge Producers

Logical Pictures Group and Protagonist Pictures have announced that they will begin international sales at the upcoming European Film Market on "Shredded", a bold, high-concept horror feature produced by Platinum Dunes, the company behind "A Quiet Place" and "The Purge" franchises. Protagonist will co-rep international rights with newly launched Logical Pictures International (LPI), and UTA Independent Film Group will represent North American rights. Logical Pictures Group provides full financing for the film as well.

The film has been described as a "viscerally entertaining crowd-pleaser" that "fuses relentless suspense with viciously sharp commentary, delivering nonstop chills and an unflinching look at the darker side of modern fitness culture and self-obsession". Written and directed by Academy Award nominee Josh Lawson ("The Eleven O'Clock", "The Little Death", "Long Story Short"), the film is a propulsive thrill ride that pushes toxic gym culture to terrifying extremes - an electric descent into diabolical mayhem where brains prove far more valuable than brawn.

The story follows Eileen, who is reeling from a breakup and signs up for an intense gym class run by a charismatic but deranged coach. When she quits the program, he abducts her and imprisons her in his sadistic training compound, forcing her — and other captives — through punishing, often lethal workouts. As the physical toll mounts, Eileen must outwit the coach's vicious regimen and turn his obsession with control and perfection against him before it's too late.

The film is produced by Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Alex Ginno for Platinum Dunes, and Jeff Golenberg for Strand Entertainment. Executive Producers include Frédéric Fiore, Ryan Wickers and Andrei Kamarowsky for Logical Pictures Group, alongside Dave Bishop, James Pugh and George Hamilton for Protagonist Pictures, and Troy Lum.

Platinum Dunes said in a statement: "Josh has crafted a deeply personal story that brings the horror directly into the audience's lives. Michael Bay and Sydney Sweeney Join Forces On OUTRUN Video Game Adaptation
Video game adaptations are currently on a roll with "A Minecraft Movie" and "The Last of Us" dominating headlines, so here's another one, although one that feels a little bit like scraping the bottom of the barrel. It has been reported that Universal is looking to adapt the iconic Sega arcade video game "OutRun" with Michael Bay attached to direct and Sydney Sweeney set to produce. Sweeney doesn't seem to be starring in it, but perhaps official casting announcements will be made further down the line.

The script will be penned by Jayson Rothwell ("Polar", "Malice in Wonderland"), but plot details are unknonw at this point. Sega's "OutRun" pioneered a genre of arcade driving games and spawned the "outrun" electronic music subgenre that focuses on synthesizers and 1980's themes. The franchise has spawned numerous installments, including home console versions, and it continues to be one of Sega's flagship series.

Bay will produce alongside partner Brad Fuller through their Platinum Dunes banner, which has a first-look deal with the studio. Toru Nakahara ("Sonic the Hedgehog" 1-3, "Knuckles", "Golden Axe") will also produce for Sega and Shuji Utsumi (president/COO of SEGA Corp.) will oversee the project on behalf of Sega.

Sweeney can next be seen in the upcoming Christy Martin biopic, which she also produces.

Drop 2025 Movie Trailers Clips Featurettes Images And Posters

"Drop" is a psychological thriller directed by Christopher Landon ("Happy Death Day") from a script by Jillian Jacobs ("Fantasy Island") and Chris Roach ("Non-Stop").

Produced by Jason Blum and Michael Bay, the film stars Meghann Fahy ("The White Lotus") as a widowed mother whose first date in years takes a terrifying turn when she's bombarded with anonymous threatening messages, which cause her to question her date. Brandon Sklenar, Violett Beane, Jacob Robinson, Reed Diamond, Gabrielle Ryan and Sarah McCormack.

"Drop" opened in theaters on April 11, 2025.

Lupita Nyong'o to Star in Paramount's A QUIET PLACE Spinoff
Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o ("12 Years a Slave", "Black Panther") has signed on to lead the upcoming "A Quiet Place" spinoff for Paramount. Titled "A Quiet Place: Day One", the film will be written and directed by Michael Sarnoski ("Pig").

The film is said to be based on an original idea from John Krasinski, who directed and starred in the first two films, and is intended to kickstart a potential "Quiet Place" cinematic universe. Although plot specifics are being kept under wraps, Emily Blunt and Krasinski will likely not reprise their roles in the spinoff.

The release date has been set for March 8, 2024. Meanwhile, a third film in the main series is being developed with Krasinski set to return in the director's chair, and is expected to debut sometime in 2025.

Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller will produce via Platinum Dunes, while Krasinski will produce via his Sunday Night banner with partner Allyson Seeger executive producing.

The film is set in 2014 as a pandemic ravages the world, and it stars K.J. Apa as a courier who must race against time to save the woman (Sofia Carson) he loves from a quarantine camp. Craig Robinson, Bradley Whitford, Peter Stormare, Alexandra Daddario, Paul Walter Hauser and Demi Moore co-star.

"Songbird" premiered on December 11, 2020 via streaming.

Michael Bay and Jake Gyllenhaal Team on Action Thriller AMBULANCE

Michael Bay is set to direct the action thriller "Ambulance" with Jake Gyllenhaal in talks to star. Bay is fast-tracking the project with plans to shoot in early 2021. No distribution deal has closed yet.

The plot is kept under wraps, but insiders say the film is in the vein of classic 1990s action thrillers like "Speed" and "Bad Boys". The screenplay, which has been highly coveted for years, is penned by "Prodigal Son" series co-creator Chris Fedak, based on the Danish film "Ambulancen".

James Vanderbilt, Bradley Fischer and Will Sherak are producing.

In 2020 Bay produced the pandemic thrller "Songbird", which became one of the first productions to shoot during the COVID-19 pandemic. He recently directed the Netflix action film "6 Underground" and is developing "Black 5" for Sony.

Gyllenhaal is currently filming director Antoine Fuqua's thriller "The Guilty", and has recently signed on to star in the HBO series "The Son", which will be directed by Denis Villeneuve.

The cast features Ryan Reynolds, Melanie Laurent, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Ben Hardy, Adria Arjona, Dave Franco, Corey Hawkins and Peter Stormare.

"6 Underground" was released on December 13, 2019 via Netflix.

The fourth season of the action-drama series "The Last Ship" premiered its first two episodes on August 20th, 2017. The series has been renewed for a 10-episode fifth season.

Created by Steven Kane and Hank Steinberg, and executive-produced by Michael Bay, the show follows the crew of U.S. Navy destroyer USS Nathan James, who must find a way to save humanity after a global pandemic kills over 80% of the world's population. The new season finds the crew dealing with yet another global disaster in the aftermath of the failed coup attempt in America.

The cast includes Eric Dane, Adam Baldwin, Charles Parnell, Bridget Regan, Fay Masterson, Travis Van Winkle, Marissa Neitling, Christina Elmore, Kevin Michael Martin, Jocko Sims and Ben Cho.

The next episode of "The Last Ship" Season 4, titled "Bread and Circuses", will air on August 27th on TNT.

"Transformers: The Last Knight" is the fifth installment in the long-running partnership between Paramount and Hasbro. Michael Bay once again directs, but he has announced that this will be his last film in the franchise he directs. Mark Wahlberg also returns as Cade Yeager from "Age of Extinction" and he is joined by franchise veterans Josh Duhamel and John Turturro, and newcomers Laura Haddock, Isabela Moner, Jerrod Carmichael and Anthony Hopkins.

The voice cast includes Peter Cullen, Erik Aadahl, Ken Watanabe, Omar Sy, Jim Carter, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, Frank Welker, Reno Wilson, John DiMaggio and Mark Ryan.

"Transformers: The Last Knight" opened in theaters on June 21st, 2017 and was universally panned by critics. The complaints regarded the usual suspects found in most Bay movies: brash mix of action and comedy, chaotic editing, confusing plot, the objectification of women and machismo. The visual-effects, however, were well-regarded.

The film is also having trouble at the box-office, grossing an all-time franchise low of $15.7 million on its first day, which lowers initial projections of a $70-75 million opening weekend down to $60-65 million.

Paramount Pictures has released the first official trailer and posters for Michael Bay's "Transformers: The Last Knight". The plot for this new sequel remains largely unknown, but from the trailer it looks like they're adding a medieval backstory to the Transformers mythology.

The cast features Mark Wahlberg, Laura Haddock,Stanley Tucci, Jerrod Carmichael, John Goodman, John Turturro, Josh Duhamel, Isabela Moner, Gil Birmingham and Jean Dujardin.

"Transformers: The Last Knight" opens in theaters on June 23, 2017.

The film was co-written, edited and directed by Mike Flanagan ("Oculus"), and it stars Elizabeth Reaser, Lulu Wilson, Henry Thomas, Kate Siegel, Lin Shaye and Doug Jones.

"Ouija: Origin of Evil" opens in theaters on October 21st.

TNT has released a new trailer and poster for the third season of the Michael Bay-produced series "The Last Ship".

The new season finds the crew of the Nathan James setting course for Asia when rumors begin to surface that a new virus mutation could hit Japan and that the Chinese might be hoarding a cure for a devastating pandemic.

The cast includes Eric Dane, Bridget Regan, Adam Baldwin, Travis Van Winkle, Marissa Neitling, Jocko Sims, Charles Parnell, Christina Elmore, Bren Foster, Kevin Michael Martin and Mark Moses.

"The Last Ship" Season 3 premiered on Sunday, June 12th 2016 and is now available on DVD and Blu-ray.
