Free Willy Reboot In The Works At Warner Bros

The 1990s family adventure flick "Free Willy" is getting a reboot. The new film will reimagine the iconic classic and is being developed by Warner Bros, and produced by Anthony and Joe Russo's AGBO. The script will be penned by Mary-Margaret Kunze ("Miller's Girls", "Icebreaker") and Jade Halley Bartlett ("Miller's Girl", "The Boroughs").

The original "Free Willy" was released in 1993 and was an instant hit. The story of a 12-year-old orphaned boy who befriends a captive Orca whale named Willy grossed a total of $153.7 million worldwide against a $20 million budget. The film featured a theme song by Michael Jackson titled "Will You Be There", which became a top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 and went platinum.

"Free Willy" became a franchise that now includes the theatrical sequels "Free Willy 2: The Adventure Home" (1995) and "Free Willy 3: The Rescue" (1997), the direct-to-video film "Free Willy: Escape from Pirate's Cove" (2010), and an animated television series (1994-1995).

The reboot is produced by AGBO's Angela Russo-Otstot, Michael Disco and Kassee Whiting. Executive producers include the Russo brothers and franchise veteran producer Lauren Shuler Donner. Courtney Baker is co-producing. Jesse Ehrman and Cate Adams are overseeing the project on behalf of the studio.

Chris Evans And Ryan Gosling Netflix Thriller

Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling are set to star in a Netflix thriller from Joe and Anthony Russo, the brothers who helmed four highly successful Marvel films, including "Avengers: Endgame" and "Avengers: Infinity War".

The brothers' new project is titled "The Gray Man" and it's based on a series of best sellers from Mark Greaney. The film reportedly has secured a $200 million budget, and it's intended to be the start of a new blockbuster franchise for the streaming service. Joe Russo wrote the script alongside "Endgame" scribes Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

The titular Grey Man is Court Gentry (Gosling), an assassin, former CIA operative and a legend in the covert realm, who is pursued by an old colleague, now nemesis, Lloyd Hansen (Evans). The Russos have high hopes for this potential film series according to Joe Russo:
"The idea is to create a franchise and build out a whole universe. We have all committed to the first movie and that’s got to be great to get us to the second movie. These are master assassins and Gosling’s character gets burned by the CIA and Evans’ character has to hunt him down.

The intention is for it to be competitive with any theatrical, and the ability to do with with Gosling and Evans is a dream for us. The idea is to create a franchise and build out a whole universe, with Ryan at the center of it. We have all committed to the first movie, and that’s got to be great to get us to the second movie"

Emily VanCamp joins Captain America: Civil War
Paul Rudd joins Captain America: Civil War
The cast of "Captain America: Civil War" has been pretty much rounded up. Marvel announced today via press release that production on the new installment is underway in Atlanta and they also revealed the film's synopsis and some very interesting cast addition. After yesterday's news that Martin Freeman ("The Hobbit") had joined the film in an unspecified role, the film's cast now includes Emily VanCamp, Paul Rudd and William Hurt among others.

Rudd will, of course, star as Scott Lang a.k.a Ant-Man, VanCamp will reprise the role of Agent 13 from "The Winter Soldier", and Hurt will return as General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross. The latter is the most surprising addition, because Hurt played Ross in "The Incredible Hulk", and that film has been pretty much ignored so far in the MCU.

The press release also reveals that other characters who will be appearing in "Civil War" are The Vision (Paul Bettany), Jim Rhodes (Don Cheadle) and Crossbones (Frank Grillo). The only one still not cast is Spider-Man, but I suspect we'll have a name very soon. Until then, here's the official synopsis:
"Captain America: Civil War” picks up where “Avengers: Age of Ultron” left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain."
The film also stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Elizabeth Olsen, Chadwick Boseman and Daniel Bruhl. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, "Captain America: Civil War" opens in theaters on May 6, 2016. If you want to learn more about Marvel's Phase 3 line-up, you can do so here.

Robert Downey Jr.
Marvel's Civil War Comic
After announcing that he won't be returning for "Iron Man 4" and that Marvel has some secret plans for him, Robert Downey Jr. is now close to signing a deal to star in "Captain America 3" alongside Chris Evans. The sequel will adapt the "Civil War" series written by Mark Millar in which a legislative bill called the Superhuman Registration Act requires the mandatory registration of any person based in the United States with super powers. The existence of this law divides the superhero community. Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, leads the pro-registration team, while Captain America leads the anti-registration group, which means that Downey will essentially be playing a villain this time. This will most likely open up a whole new line of stories for the Marvel films and it will be interesting to see what happens to Stark and whether or not this will be part of Downey's exit from the franchise. "Captain America 3" will be directed by The Winter Soldier helmers Anthony and Joe Russo from a script by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, and it will be released on May 6, 2016.
