The action thriller "Proud Mary" stars Taraji P. Henson as a hit woman working for an organized crime family in Boston whose life is completely turned around when she crosses paths with a young boy (Jahi Di'Allo Winston) who is left orphaned when a professional hit goes wrong.

The film is directed by Babak Najafi ("London Has Fallen") from a script by John Stuart Newman, Christian Swegal and Steve Antin, and it also stars Billy Brown, Neal McDonough, Margaret Avery, Xander Berkeley and Danny Glover.

"Proud Mary" opened in theaters on January 12, 2018 and was panned by critics. It grossed $10 million in its opening weekend, much less than the initially projected $20 million.

Weekend Box-Office: JUMANJI Still Leads Ahead of Four New Releases Over MLK Weekend

"Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" is the unexpected hit of 2017 that continues to impress at the box-office even after a month in theaters. Meanwhile, Steven Spielberg's "The Post" expanded nationwide and received a decent boost, and the Liam Neeson thriller "The Commuter" overperformed. The other two new releases, "Paddington 2" and "Proud Mary" stumbled.

In Theaters: PADDINGTON 2, THE COMMUTER, PROUD MARY and THE INSULT

This week in theaters we have the first wave of significant new wide releases. There's the sequel "Paddington 2", which is currently 100% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, the thriller "The Commuter" starring Liam Neeson and the actioner "Proud Mary" starring Taraji P. Henson. In limited release be sure to check out the Lebanese courtroom drama "The Insult", which is on the Oscar shortlist for best foreign language film.
