Hitman Agent 47 Movie Clips

Four new clips for "Hitman: Agent 47" have been released online. The videogame adaptation opens today in theaters, but it looks like fans of the games will be disappointed. The film is one of the year's worst reviewed films with a Rottentomatoes score of 8% and an average rating of 3.6 out of 10, which is comparable to the "Fantastic Four" level of crappiness. While not completely without qualities, especially for those looking to watch a relatively fun, brainless actioner, for everyone else the film might prove to be a dull exercise in over-the-top action laced with an illogial plot. The cast features Rupert Friend, Hannah Ware, Zachary Quinto, Thomas Kretschmann, Ciaran Hinds, Emilio Rivera and Alex Young.

Hitman Agent 47 Movie trailer and poster

The first trailer and poster for the video game adaptation "Hitman: Agent 47" have been released. The film stars Rupert Friend ("Homeland") as a genetically engineered elite assassin who wages war against a mega-corporation that plans to unlock the secret of Agent 47's past to create an army of killers. Zachary Quinto, Hannah Ware, Thomas Kretschmann and Ciaran Hinds and Alex Young co-star.

I've actually played the games that inspired this movie, and I think this will anger fans somewhat. The games were all about stealth, patience and trying to complete the objectives as quietly and cleanly as possible, but the movie seems to care more about creating absurdly explosive set pieces that defy everything from physics to common sense. I believe that was exactly the reason why the first movie failed and required this reboot, which seems doomed to repeat the same mistakes. And the CGI looks really horrible. Instead of overreaching on a modest budget, they should have just kept the action simple, but smart. Just look how well "John Wick" turned out on a $20 million budget.

"Hitman: Agent 47" opens in theaters on August 28th.

need-for-speed-movie-action-scenes

The full-length theatrical trailer for the videogame adaptation "Need for Speed" is finally here, along with a batch of new images from the film. This is pretty much an old-school revenge story seasoned with "Fast & Furious" style racing action, and the trailer does provide a lot more footage from the film's various car chases. It remains to be seen, though, if the filmmakers managed to translate the videogame into a worthy movie, or if it's just another "Fast & Furious" wannabe trying to cash-in on a cinematic trend.

The film is directed by Scott Waugh ("Act of Valor") and it stars Aaron Paul, Dominic Cooper, Imogen Poots, Kid Cudi, Ramon Rodriguez, Rami Malek, Harrison Gilbertson, Dakota Johnson and Michael Keaton.

Need for Speed Movie Trailer

The first trailer and images for Dreamworks' videogame adaptation "Need for Speed" have been released. The film stars Aaron Paul ("Breaking Bad") as a car mechanic who has been framed for murder. After being released from jail, he begin a cross-country race against time to get revenge on the man who framed him (Dominic Cooper). The whole synopsis is a bit more complicated, but you can read it for yourself after the jump. The surprising thing about the trailer is that it really digs into its revenge flick premise, showing off car chases and intense slow motion sequences, all accompanied by an equally intense orchestral soundtrack. I was expecting the trailer to be an over-the-top showcase of techno music, car explosions and scantily clad babes, but it seems that the filmmakers are going for something more ambitious. It remains to be seen if it's too ambitious for its videogame roots. The film is directed by Scott Waugh ("Act of Valor") and also stars Imogen Poots, Kid Cudi, Ramon Rodriguez, Rami Malek, Harrison Gilbertson, Dakota Johnson and Michael Keaton. "Need for Speed" opens on March 14, 2014.

Terminator Robot Image
Arnold Schwarzenegger has confirmed that he will star once again as a killer robot in "Terminator 5". The franchise has hit something of a dead end with the mixed reception of "Terminator: Salvation", so it took Paramount four years to find a new direction for the sequel. To that end they hired screenwriters Laeta Kalogridis ("Shutter Island") and Patrick Lussier ("Drive Angry") to craft a new script. The production is still looking for a director after "Fast & Furious" helmer Justin Lin turned it down. Filming is set to begin in January. Here is what Schwarzenegger had to say abot his upcoming projects, inluding T5:
"In fact, I’m very happy that the studios want me to be in Terminator 5 and to star AS the Terminator, which we start shooting in January and I’m also going to do King Conan – to play that role and also to do another Twins movie. So I feel very proud of that. I feel very happy and I’m looking forward to doing those films."
Tomb Raider Reboot

A "Tomb Raider" reboot is currently in the works. MGM has teamed up with producer Graham King ("Hugo") for the project and writer Marti Noxon ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer", "I Am Number Four", "Fright Night") has been hired to pen the script for the reboot. The new story of adventure-seeking archeologist Lara Croft will most likely be inspired by the recent video game reboot which also managed to revitalize the gaming franchise.

Sandra Bullock Pictures

Sandra Bullock is in early negotiations to star in the upcoming musical remake "Annie". She will star as Miss Hannigan, the mean lady who runs the orphanage and is the reason why the kids sing about the "hard-knock life". The remake will star Oscar-nominee Quvenzhane Wallis ("Beasts of the Southern Wild") as the orphan Annie and Jamie Foxx will star as Daddy Warbucks, a candidate for mayor in NY in this version. "Annie" is produced by Will Smith and Jay-Z, and will be directed by Will Gluck ("Easy A"). The release date is December 25, 2013.

Emma Watson pictures

Emma Watson is re-teaming with "Harry Potter" producer David Heyman for an adaptation of Erika Johnson's fantasy book trilogy "Queen of the Tearling". Obviously, while her recent involvement in more mature movies like "The Bling Ring", "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" and "This is the End" is great for building some acting credibility, one also needs a good solid box-office hit franchise. According to Variety, the book features a 19-year-old female protagonist and "is set three centuries after an environmental catastrophe when a malevolent Red Queen holds considerable power." Watson is also set to star in Guillermo del Toro's adaptation of "Beauty and the Beast".

Watch Dogs Video Game Ubisoft

Video game studio Ubisoft has added some new big-screen projects to their impressive line-up which already includes "Assassin's Creed", "Splinter Cell" and "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon". The new proejcts are "Watch Dogs", "Far Cry" and "Rabbids". According to Variety, Ubisoft is very interested in proceeding with phase two of their planned adaptations. The studio will maintain creative control over each of these adaptations, similar to what Marvel Studios is doing with their movies. This includes hiring directors, screenwriters, actors, production and distribution companies etc. No matter how it turns out, the new "Far Cry" movie has to be an improvement over Uwe Boll's turd-fest.

Tom Hanks Pictures

Tom Hanks and writer/director Tom Tykwer will re-team after their colossal work on "Cloud Atlas". Tykwer will direct and adapt the Dave Eggers novel "A hologram for the King", which centers on a failed American businessman, played by Hanks, who travels to a rising Saudi Arabian city in an attempt to find the great success that will keep his family together.

Star Wars Episode 7 Plot Details
A new rumor has surfaced about J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII". According to this rumor, the protagonists of the new sequel will be Han and Leia's twin children, Jaina and Jacen Solo. The plot involving the twins is actually based on the expanded universe novel series "Legacy of the Force", which also means that the rumor could be false, since it was previously reporte that the sequels will not be based on any of these spin-off books. However, it's also true that the screenplays for the sequels will be based on George Lucas' original rough drafts for the sequels he wanted to make, and if the books themselves were based on these drafts, then they could apply to Episode VII and beyond. It remains to be seen. The basis for the Solo kids rumor is the following casting notice, which offers more detailed information about the story:
"Storyline: Two 17 year old twins, a girl and a boy, are trained by their uncle Luke to be the greatest Jedi’s in the galaxy. Problems arise when the male twin turns to the dark side.

Jaina Solo – Female, 17 years old, lead. – Jacen’s twin sister, one of the greatest Jedi’s in the galaxy, trained by her uncle Luke Skywalker

Jacen Solo – Male, 17 years old, lead – Jaina’s twin brother, one of the greatest Jedi’s in the world. A loner who is constantly struggling with the idea of what’s right and what’s wrong. Starts to turn to the dark side. Full of conviction that what he is doing is the “right thing”. Will eventually become Darth Caedus."

"Transformers" director Michael Bay may have chosen his next cinematic franchise. The filmmaker, through his Platinum Dunes studio, has signed a deal with Ubisoft to develop a big-screen version of the video game franchise "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon" for Warner Bros. It's also very likely that Bay will direct the movie. For those unfamiliar with the video game, "Ghost Recon" started out in 2001 and it is a tactical shooter in which the player controls a U.S. Army squad of Special Forces soldiers in various Tom Clancy-esque crysis intervention missions, with a large aresenal of hi-tech weapons and gear at their disposal. Several sequels were made, including a free-to-play online game which was released last year. Here is an official statement from Michael Bay about this project:
"Ubisoft’s artistic vision and the Ghost Recon franchise’s core tenets convinced me that we could build something special together. It’s a unique title with very cool components – including a huge global canvas with which we will create an amazing film."

Need For Speed Movie First Look

DreamWorks and videogame developer EA have released a first-look featurette for their upcoming adaptation of the beloved "Need for Speed" franchise at this year's E3. The film stars "Breaking Bad" actor Aaron Paul as a street racer fresh out of prison who sets out the settle the score with the man responsible for his false conviction. Director Scott Waugh tried to achieve the perfect cinematic immersion with the experimental action movie "Act of Valor" and that realism seems to flow through the way he shot this movie, as well. Unfortunately, it's not the gimmick, but the story that really matters in a movie, so let's hope they can pull off the perfect balance. And they'll have to work hard at it if they want to avoid comparison with the "Fast & Furious" franchise.

DreamWorks Studios and Ford Motor Company have also announced their exclusive "Need for Speed" partnership for the protagonist's fancy car and here's what they had to say about it:
"Need for Speed is rooted in Americana, and when we were casting our hero car for the film, Ford Mustang was the obvious choice. With its 50-year history in film, the iconic Mustang is the perfect co-star for Aaron Paul. We are privileged to have such an esteemed partner like Ford working with us on this film and look forward to seeing their Mustang up on the big screen next year."
The cast also features Dominic Cooper, Ramon Rodriguez, Rami Malek, Imogen Poots, Dakota Johnson and Scott Mescudi. The release date is March 14, 2014.

“Deus Ex is a phenomenal cyberpunk game with soul and intelligence,” said Derrickson, who continued, “By combining amazing action and tension with big, philosophical ideas, Deus Ex is smart, ballsy, and will make one hell of a movie. Cargill and I can’t wait to bring it to the big screen.”

The Deus Ex franchise was originally introduced in June 2000. Its latest entry, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, launched to universal acclaim in 2011, ranking #1 across global sales charts and earning over 100 industry awards. Developed by Eidos-Montréal and published by Square Enix, Deus Ex: Human Revolution will serve as the primary template for the film.

Executive Vice President of Production Maria Faillace and Creative Executive Alex Ginno are overseeing the project for CBS Films.

Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill are represented by WME and managed by Brillstein Entertainment Partners. Their legal is handled by Jackoway, Tyerman, Wertheimer, Austen, Mandelbaum, Morris & Klein."

Tim Burton and Robert Downey Jr. have teamed up for a new version of "Pinocchio". Downey Jr. will play Geppetto, the woodcarver who creates Pinocchio, the puppet that comes to life. When Pinocchio disappears, Geppetto sets off on a quest to find him and bring him back. Also, screenwriter Jane Goldman ("X-Men: First Class") has been hired to rewrite the script, which was first written by Bryan Fuller ("Pushing Daisies").

Jack Nicholson is in talks to star in director David Dobkins's dramedy "The Judge", alongside Robert Downey Jr.. Downey will star as an attorney who returns home for his mother's funeral only to discover that his estranged father (Nicholson), a judge who suffers from Alzheimer's, is a suspect in a murder case.

Sony's Steve Jobs biopic written by Aaron Sorkin ("West Wing", "The Social Network") will feature a very unique narrative structure. According to Sorkin, the film, which is based on Walter Isaacson's biography "Steve Jobs", will feature three 30-minute scenes that will play out in real time and will be set right before the three major Apple products were launched: The Mac, NeXT and the iPod. Below is a video interview in which Sorkin talks about the film:

splinter cell sam fisher
The big screen version of the "Splinter Cell" videogame franchise is moving forward. Ubisoft has hired screenwriter Eric Singer ("The International") to pen the script for the film. Both Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. are fighting over the rights for the adaptation, but Ubisoft Motion Pictures will ultimately have full creative control. Also, actor Tom Hardy ("The Dark Knight Rises") has been approached to star as game protagonist Sam Fisher. Of course, if things go well, "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell" could very well turn into a full cinematic series. Here is what Ubisoft Motion Pictures CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet had to say about Hardy's involvement in the project :
"Tom Hardy is currently one of the biggest talents in the film industry, and he has a phenomenal ability to take on complex and varied roles with his broad range of acting skills. His involvement in the "Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell" movie is exciting news for movie and video game fans alike. Meanwhile, Eric Singer is one of the most talented writers of the moment, and … we’re confident he’ll bring a fresh approach and create a thrilling story … while still respecting all the codes and traditions of the franchise that are so important to fans."
