2017 Razzie Award Winners: Hillary Documentary and BATMAN V SUPERMAN Win Big

"Hillary's America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party" and "Batman V Superman" were the big winners of the 37th Razzie Awards. The films were tied with four wins each, but the really big ones were scored by the infamous Hillary Clinton documentary. Its director, Dinesh D'Souza won two Golden Raspberries, for Worst Director and Worst Actor, as the film's narrator. The Razzies have never really been known for their fairness, and now they can add political pandering to their list of sins.

The comic book movie won for Worst Supporting Actor (Jesse Eisenberg), Worst Screen Combo (Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill), Worst Screenplay and Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel.

This year's Razzie Redeemer Award went to Mel Gibson, who managed to rise above his past transgressions with the Oscar-nominated war film "Hacksaw Ridge".

2017 Razzies Nominations: ZOOLANDER 2 and BATMAN V SUPERMAN Lead Among Worst of 2016

If you've had enough of 2016's best films, it's time to see about rewarding the worst. "Zoolander No. 2" and "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" lead the 37th Annual Razzie Awards with nine and eight nods, respectively, including the big ones: Worst Picture, Director and Screenplay. The films also received nominations in the acting categories for Ben Stiller, Kristen Wiig, Will Ferrell, Owen Wilson, Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill.

Other contenders for the infamous awards include "Dirty Grandpa", "Alice Through the Looking Glass", "Independence Day: Resurgence", "Gods of Egypt", and "Hillary's America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party". The latter, a documentary, is an odd choice for the Razzies, but I suppose the political tensions and anti-Trump sentiments in Hollywood are reflected in this inclusion.

The Razzies expanded their Worst Picture category from five to six contenders this year. They also haven't announced any nominees for the Razzie's recent category, the Razzie Redeemer Award, first introduced in 2014. It's unclear whether the category has been excluded, or if they're having a hard time finding any redeeming performances for the past year. Either way, it would be a shame to lose it. Previous winners of the Redeemer Award were Ben Affleck for "Gone Girl" and "Argo" in 2015, and Sylvester Stallone for "Creed" in 2016.

The winners of the 2017 Razzie Awards will be announced on February 25th.

Weekend Box-Office: JUNGLE BOOK Scores Massive $103M Debut

It will come as no surprise that Disney's "The Jungle Book" is this week's box-office champion, but even the most optimist of pundits couldn't have expected it would do so well. The comedy sequel "Barbershop: The Next Cut" did okay, but the third new release, the Kevin Costner thriller "Criminal" suffered a bit of a disappointment.

Weekend Box-Office: THE BOSS Barely Tops BATMAN V SUPERMAN

It's a tight box-office race, but it seems that the new R-rated comedy "The Boss" managed to dethrone "Batman V Superman" this week, based on the estimates, so far. The other wide release of the week, the experimental actioner "Hardcore Henry" proved to be a disappointment.

Batman and Superman face off in theaters this weekend in Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman". Don't get too excited, though, because apparently the movie sucks. Don't believe me, ask the critics. Also in theaters, the pointless sequel "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2". That one's supposed to be pretty bad, too. And worst of all, the highly anticipated Hank Williams biopic "I Saw the Light" starring Tom Hiddleston is just as bad as the previous two. Who can understand Hollywood these days. Much better, however, is the Chet Baker biopic "Born to Be Blue" starring Ethan Hawke. More about each movie after the jump.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN - 6 Clips and 3 Featurettes

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is now in theaters and we have six new clips and three featurettes.

The film has generated something of an upset among fans as a wave of negative critics' reviews have hit the Internet. The film's Rottentomatoes score is at a low 30%, while Metacritics holds at 44. While Ben Affleck was at the center of many negative comments when his casting as Batman was announced, it turns out that his involvement is one of the better things about "BvS". Even Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman is considered one of the film's major highlights.

The action is spectacular and the big confrontation between the two legendary superheroes doesn't disappoint, but director Zack Snyder shows that he just can't handle the narrative demands of such a complex film, leaving the movie adrift on a sea of dull grimness. The worst part is that Warner Bros. was counting on "BvS" to startup the "Justice League" franchise. According to recent reports, Warner needs to earn more than $800 million to break even since the film's budget is estimated at $400 million. In the end, though, I'm sure the film will gross a lot of money, but it is a pretty difficult start for the DC Comics franchise.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN Korean Final Trailer Reveals More New Footage

I thought that the final trailer released some weeks ago for "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" was going to be the last bit of new footage we were going to see before the film's release in theaters, but a new "final trailer" from Korea was released and it contains a lot new shots. The trailer is only one minute long, but it's packed with epicness.

Directed by Zack Snyder ("Man of Steel"), the film stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Amy Adams, Jeremy Irons, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Scoot McNairy, Jason Momoa, Tao Okamoto, Michael Shannon, Harry Lennix and Holly Hunter.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN Ultimate Edition to be Rated R

Following the explosive success of the R-rated superhero flick "Deadpool", we will probably witness a whole series of comic book adaptations trying to offer audiences a more adult-oriented experience. Such is the case with "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice". It seems that the alternate cut that Warner Brothers will release on DVD/Blu-Ray, dubbed "Ultimate Edition", will be rated R for no less than "sequences of violence".

The information arrived via filmratings.com where the film is listed among other home video releases with the aforementioned age classification and an additional note stating that this is an "Edited Version" featuring content that is "different from PG-13 version". This wouldn't be the first superhero movie to get an R-rated home release. In 2013, "The Wolverine" was released as an Unrated Extended Cut on Blu-Ray. Also, 20th Century Fox will be releasing "Wolverine 3" in theaters on March 3, 2017 with a targeted R rating, although that one is still a long way from being officially confirmed.

It will be interesting to see if "Batman V Superman" provides any significantly violent scenes in its R-rated form, or if it was just a very hard PG-13 to begin with, in which case the home video release will probably be an extended version of sorts instead of a true R cut and ultimately just a studio's cash-grab strategy in the wake of "Deadpool"s huge success. Either way, the showdown between Batman and Superman will definitely be violent and epic, so whether it's bloody or not shouldn't make that much of a difference.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN - Exclusive First Look, TV Spots and Soundtrack Preview

Today we have some new stuff for Zack Snyder's "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice". The first is an exclusive first look video featured by The CW that includes some interesting interviews and new footage. Then we have two new TV spots, which also provide some new footage. And last, but not least, we have a 90 second preview from the film's soundtrack composed by Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL.

The soundtrack will be released on March 18th and will be available as MP3, CD, 2-disc Deluxe Edition CD and Limited Edition 3-LP Deluxe vinyl. The vinyl will feature over 90 minutes of music which will include five bonus tracks, an exclusive poster and notes from the composers.

New BATMAN V SUPERMAN Trailer Reveals Villain

A new trailer for Zack Snyder's "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" has appeared online, and it's actually more spoilery than I would have though.

Besides the ton of new footage unveiled, the trailer also reveals that Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill) won't actually fight each other all the way to the end, and that they will eventually team up with Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) to battle Doomsday, a monster created by Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg). It takes away a lot of the tension set up in previous trailers that were all about the clash between the two legendary superheroes, but I suppose it was naive to think they wouldn't join forces before the end credits. Also, Eisenberg seems to be playing a very cheesy and, frankly, annoying version of Lex Luthor. We'll have to wait and see how that one works out.

The film also stars Amy Adams, Jeremy Irons, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Scoot McNairy, Jason Momoa, Tao Okamoto, Michael Shannon, Harry Lennix and Holly Hunter.

Warner Bros. has released the first TV spot for Zack Snyder's "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice", and it's not the quick-cut set-piece sizzle reel you'd expect. Instead, it features a tense moment between Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill) in the surreal desert environment that the trailers have been teasing, without revealing what it's all about. Indeed, this seems to be film's big twist and main topic of debate for fans.

The film also stars Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Jeremy Irons, Laurence Fishburne, Jesse Eisenberg, Diane Lane, Scoot McNairy, Jason Momoa and Holly Hunter.
