2017 Razzies Nominations: ZOOLANDER 2 and BATMAN V SUPERMAN Lead Among Worst of 2016

If you've had enough of 2016's best films, it's time to see about rewarding the worst. "Zoolander No. 2" and "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" lead the 37th Annual Razzie Awards with nine and eight nods, respectively, including the big ones: Worst Picture, Director and Screenplay. The films also received nominations in the acting categories for Ben Stiller, Kristen Wiig, Will Ferrell, Owen Wilson, Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill.

Other contenders for the infamous awards include "Dirty Grandpa", "Alice Through the Looking Glass", "Independence Day: Resurgence", "Gods of Egypt", and "Hillary's America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party". The latter, a documentary, is an odd choice for the Razzies, but I suppose the political tensions and anti-Trump sentiments in Hollywood are reflected in this inclusion.

The Razzies expanded their Worst Picture category from five to six contenders this year. They also haven't announced any nominees for the Razzie's recent category, the Razzie Redeemer Award, first introduced in 2014. It's unclear whether the category has been excluded, or if they're having a hard time finding any redeeming performances for the past year. Either way, it would be a shame to lose it. Previous winners of the Redeemer Award were Ben Affleck for "Gone Girl" and "Argo" in 2015, and Sylvester Stallone for "Creed" in 2016.

The winners of the 2017 Razzie Awards will be announced on February 25th.

Weekend Box-Office: THE REVENANT Survives Snow Storm

"The Revenant" continues to lead at the box-office despite the bout of bad weather that struck the East Coast. Meanwhile, new arrivals "Dirty Grandpa", "The 5th Wave" and "The Boy", performed modestly well.

In Theaters: THE 5TH WAVE, DIRTY GRANDPA, THE BOY, IP MAN 3

This week in theaters moviegoers will have multiple bad choices. On the one hand there's the young adult sci-fi adaptation "The 5th Wave" starring Chloe Grace Moretz, then there's the R-rated comedy "Dirty Grandpa" starring Robert De Niro and Zac Efron, followed by a helping of cliched horror in the form of "The Boy" starring Lauren Cohan. The best reviewed film of the week is actually a limited release, the martial arts action film "Ip Man 3". More about each movie after the jump.

DIRTY GRANDPA Clips and Posters

The comedy "Dirty Grandpa" opens today in theaters and we have seven new clips and seven posters for the film. As you might expect, the film received a widely negative reception from critics. Robert De Niro and Zac Efron were pretty much at the center of all the negative reviews for their lack of chemistry and overall unfunny performances, though I suspect the writing and direction are equally responsible for their failure. To sum it up, Dan Mazer's film looks to be a disaster of R-rated proportions.

The cast also includes Aubrey Plaza, Julianne Hough, Zoey Deutch, Dermot Mulroney, Adam Pally and Jason Mantzoukas.

New DIRTY GRANDPA Trailer, Images and Poster

Today we have a new trailer, images and poster for the R-rated comedy "Dirty Grandpa".

Directed by Dan Mazer ("Brüno"), the film stars Zac Efron as an uptight guy whose wedding plans are disrupted when he is tricked into driving his foul-mouthed grandfather (Robert De Niro) to Florida for spring break.

Directed by John Phillips ("Bad Santa 2"), the film also stars Aubrey Plaza, Julianne Hough, Zoey Deutch, Dermot Mulroney, Adam Pally and Jason Mantzoukas.

"Dirty Grandpa" opens in theaters on January 22, 2016.

DIRTY GRANDPA Trailer and Poster

The first trailer and poster for the comedy "Dirty Grandpa" have been released.

Zac Efron takes a break from his hellraising "Neighbors" persona and stars as an uptight guy whose wedding plans are about to get shaken up by his foul-mouthed grandfather (Robert De Niro), a former Army general who decides to go to Florida for spring break and is in need of a driver. Next thing you know, grandpa is squirting suntan lotion on Aubrey Plaza's chest and utters the line "The greatest gift a grandson can give his grandfather is a hot college girl who wants to have unprotected sex with him before he dies."

Directed by Dan Mazer ("Brüno"), the film also stars Julianne Hough, Zoey Deutch, Dermot Mulroney and Jason Mantzoukas.

"Dirty Grandpa" opens in theaters on January 22, 2016.
