2014 Independent Spirit Awards Winners Announced

The Independent Spirit Awards announced the winners and it was no surprise to anyone that "12 Years a Slave" was the big winner. The drama won five awards, including Best Feature, Director (Steve McQueen), Supporting Actress (Lupita Nyong'o) and Best Screenplay (John Ridley). Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto were rewarded for their performances in "Dallas Buyers Club", and Cate Blanchett took home the trophy for Best Female Lead.

2014 Screen Actors Guild Awards Winners Announced

The Screen Actors Guild announced their winners last evening and "American Hustle" took home the award for Best Ensemble, which is fitting considering that all four protagonists of David O. Russell's film, Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence were nominated for Oscars this year. Other winners include Cate Blancett for "Blue Jasmine", Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto for "Dallas Buyers Club", Lupita Nyong’O for "12 Years a Slave", and in the TV categories, "Modern Family" and "Breaking Bad" won top honors.

We have a new clip and behind-the-scenes featurette for the drama "Dallas Buyers Club". Matthew McConaughey introduces the exclusive featurette which offers more details about the plot and characters.

The film is based on the true story of Ron Woodroof (McConaughey), a man who was diagnosed with AIDS in 1986 and decided to fight both his illness and the government agency blocking his treatment by smuggling non-toxic alternative treatments into the US and into the hands of fellow HIV-positive patients.

Also starring Jennifer Garner, Jared Leto, Steve Zahn, Dallas Roberts, Griffin Dunne, Denis O’Hare and Bradford Cox, "Dallas Buyers Club" opens in theaters on November 1st (limited release).

The film stars Matthew McConaughey as Texas electrician Ron Woodroof, an ordinary man who is diagnosed with AIDS in 1986. Since medications were still restricted in the US, Ron turned to smuggling and establishes a "buyers club" for fellow HIV-positive people, giving them access to his supplies. Also starring Jennifer Garner, Jared Leto, Steve Zahn, Dallas Roberts, Griffin Dunne, Denis O’Hare and Bradford Cox, "Dallas Buyers Club" opens in theaters on November 1, 2013.
