Smoker Series Trailer Images Poster

"Smoke" is a new crime drama series created, written and executive produced by author Dennis Lehane ("The Drop", "Mystic River", "Shutter Island") based on true events. The nine-episode series is inspired by truth.media's acclaimed "Firebug" podcast, which was hosted by Academy Award and Emmy Award winner Kary Antholis, and it follows a troubled detective and an enigmatic arson investigator as they pursue the trails of two serial arsonists.

The cast includes Taron Egerton, Jurnee Smollett, Rafe Spall, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Hannah Emily Anderson, Anna Chlumsky, Adina Porter, Greg Kinnear and John Leguizamo. The show premieres globally on Apple TV+ on June 27, 2025 with the first two episodes, followed by new episodes every Friday through August 15, 2025.

Black Bird Series Trailer Clip Featurette Images Poster

"Black Bird" is a true-crime drama limited series created by author Dennis Lehane ("Gone Baby Gone", "Mystic River") based on the 2010 autobiographical novel "In With The Devil: A Fallen Hero, A Serial Killer, and A Dangerous Bargain for Redemption" by James Keene. The cast includes Taron Egerton, Paul Walter Hauser, Sepideh Moafi, Greg Kinnear and Ray Liotta. The series premiered on July 8, 2022 on Apple TV+.

Russell Crowe to Star as Mobster in Thriller AMERICAN SON
Russell Crowe has signed on to star in the crime thriller "American Son" for Paramount, which is based on Jacques Audiard's Oscar nominated 2009 French film "A Prophet". The remake will be directed by Andrew "Rapman" Onwubolu ("Blue Story") from a screenplay by Dennis Lehane ("Mystic River", "Gone Baby Gone").

The story centers around a man, who, after falling under the control of a ruthless mobster (Crowe) while in prison, builds a multiracial crime syndicate, takes down his mentor, and earns a place for his crew alongside the Italian and Russian mafias.

The studio is now looking to cast the leading role. Casting is expected to begin shortly. Neal H. Moritz and Toby Jaffe are producing through Original Film.

The film was originally set up at Sony Pictures, where it was retitled "American Son". It is now a major priority for Paramount.

Crowe can next be seen in the road-rage thriller "Unhinged", which will be the first movie to return to theaters since the pandemic, on July 1st. He also recently appeared in the biographical western "True History of the Kelly Gang", and the Showtime miniseries "The Loudest Voice".

"Live By Night" is the latest directorial effort from Ben Affleck ("Argo"), and his second adaptation of a Dennis Lehane best-seller following the 2007 film "Gone Baby Gone", which starred his brother Casey Affleck.

Affleck also wrote the script and stars in the lead role as Joe Coughlin, the son of a Boston Police Superintendent and World War I veteran who chose the path of an outlaw. When he crosses a powerful mob boss by stealing his mistress, his whole world comes crashing down, leading him down a path of revenge that propels him out of Boston and up the ladder of Tampa's steamy rum-running underworld.

The film also stars Chris Messina, Elle Fanning, Brendan Gleeson, Chris Cooper, Miguel, Sienna Miller, Zoe Saldana, Titul Welliver and Robert Glenister.

"Live By Night" opened in limited release on December 25th, 2016, and expanded nationwide on January 13th.

"Live By Night" is the latest directorial effort from Ben Affleck based on the novel by "Mystic River" and "Gone Baby Gone" author Dennis Lehane.

Set in the Prohibition Era, the film stars Affleck as a WWI vet who navigates the Boston criminal underworld on his own terms. Driven by a need to right the wrongs committed against him and those close to him, he leads his crew to Tampa, where he intends to risk everything for the sweet taste of revenge.

The film also stars Zoe Saldana, Elle Fanning, Scott Eastwood, Brendan Gleeson, Anthony Michael Hall, Titus Welliver, Chris Cooper and Sienna Miller.

"Live by Night" opens in limited release on December 28th and expands nationwide on January 13th.

Six new clips have been released for the crime drama "The Drop". Directed by Michaël R. Roskam ("Bullhead") based on a short story by Dennis Lehane ("Mystic River"), the film stars Tom Hardy as a lonely bartender who finds himself mixed in a robbery gone wrong and an investigation that digs deep into the neighborhood's past. The cast also features Noomi Rapace, James Gandolfini, Matthias Schoenaerts, John Ortiz and Ann Dowd.

"The Drop" opens today in theaters (limited).

Sienna Miller ("G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra"), Zoe Saldana ("Star Trek") and Elle Fanning ("Maleficent") have joined the cast of Ben Affleck's next directorial project, the Prohibition Era crime drama "Live By Night", an adaptation of the novel "The Given Day" written by Dennis Lehane ("Mystic River"). The film tells the story of "Joe Coughlin’s experience going from petty theft in Boston in the 1920s to climbing the organized crime ladder." Miller will play Emma, a girl Coughlin falls in love with at the beginning of the story, who also happens to be his mobster boss' girlfriend. Saldana will star as Graciella Suarez, a woman he meets later on while being involved in Tampa's organized crime. Fanning plays Loretta Figgis, the sheriff's daughter and aspiring actress with a talent for finding trouble.

"Live By Night" will be released on October 17, 2016.

The official trailer and two posters have been released for the crime drama "The Drop". The film is directed by Michaël R. Roskam ("Bullhead") and it's an adaptation of Dennis Lehane's short story "Animal Rescue". Lehane is the author of "Mystic River", "Gone Baby Gone" and "Shutter Island". He also wrote the screenplay for "The Drop". Tom Hardy stars as a lonely bartender who finds himself at the center of a robbery gone awry and entwined in an investigation that digs deep into the neighborhood's past. Noomi Rapace, James Gandolfini, Matthias Schoenaerts, John Ortiz and Ann Dowd also star.
