Monica Barbaro and Josh Gad Join OCEAN'S ELEVEN Prequel

Oscar nominee Monica Barbaro ("A Complete Unknown") and Josh Gad ("Beauty and the Beast") have joined the cast of Warner Bros' untitled "Ocean's Eleven" prequel. The film is written and directed by Bradley Cooper, who is also set to star alongside Margot Robbie and Wagner Moura. The latter will play the film's villain. The release date has been set for June 25, 2027.

Plot and character details are being kept under wraps, however, Robbie shared a few details about the period heist film at CinemaCon: "Before Danny Ocean ever stepped foot in Vegas, two masterminds taught him everything he knows — his parents. You'll see them in their prime, and in our new movie, pulling off an epic heist at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix.".

Cooper also produces alongside LuckyChap, the company led by Tom Ackerley, Josey McNamara, Milan Popelka and Robbie. The script is based on characters by George Clayton Johnson and Jack Golden Russell. Previous drafts were penned by Carrie Solomon. Executive producers also include Bronte Payne, Bobby Wilhelm, Jay Roach, Michelle Graham, Lee Isaac Chung, Ashley Jay Sandberg, Gary Ross and Olivia Milch.

The original 1960 film "Ocean's 11" starred Rat Pack members Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop, Peter Lawford and Dean Martin. It was followed by Steven Soderbergh's "Ocean's Eleven" trilogy starring George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts, and the 2018 reboot "Ocean's Eight" that starred Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway and Rihanna. The franchise has earned a total of $1.4 billion worldwide.

Barbaro can next be seen starring opposite Callum Turner is Universal's "One Night Only", and in Luca Guadagnino's "Artificial" alongside Yura Borisov and Andrew Garfield.

Gad is also set to star in the sequels "Space Balls: The New One", "The Angry Birds Movie 3" and "Frozen 3", and the feature adaptation of "Oh, The Places You Will Go" with Ariana Grande.

Ryan Gosling in Talks to Join Margot Robbie in New OCEAN'S ELEVEN Movie

Ryan Gosling is in early negotiations to star in Warner Bros' new "Ocean's Eleven" movie, which will be directed by four-time Emmy winner Jay Roach ("Bombshell", Game Change", "Meet the Parents") from a script by Carrie Solomon.

The project, which has not yet been greenlit, will be set in Europe in the 1960s, but further plot details are being kept under wraps for now. The film is apparently in "active development" since May, and the studio is looking to start production next spring.

The cast also includes Margot Robbie, who is on board as a producer alongside Roach, Tom Ackerly and Michelle Graham. Village Roadshow is also involved in an exec producer capacity and may also co-finance. Robbie and Gosling recently worked together on Greta Gerwig's "Barbie" movie.

The "Ocean's Eleven" franchise includes three movies directed by Steven Soderbergh between 2001 and 2007, which starred George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Julia Roberts. The 2001 film was a remake of the 1960 movie of the same name that starred Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Peter Lawford and Sammy Davis Jr. A female-centric reboot titled "Ocean's 8" was released in 2018.

Gosling is also set to star in Universal's upcoming action film "The Fall Guy" opposite Emily Blunt.

Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter and Elizabeth Banks Join OCEAN'S ELEVEN Spinoff

In case you've been wondering why Hollywood isn't making more "Ocean's Eleven" movies, you'll be happy to know that an all-female spinoff is being developed. The film, which is going by the working title "Ocean's Ocho" will be directed by Gary Ross ("The Hunger Games"), and it has already rounded up some interesting names.

The most recent to join the cast are Helena Bonham Carter, Cate Blanchett, Elizabeth Banks and Mindy Kaling. Sandra Bullock was already on board and set to lead the ensemble as the sister of Danny Ocean, played by George Clooney in the original trilogy, while Blanchett will play a character similar to Brad Pitt's Rusty.

Carter recently appeared in Disney's "Alice Through the Looking Glass" and is set to star alongside Hilary Swank in Bille August's drama "55 Steps". Kaling is currently starring in her own TV series "The Mindy Project". Banks will be seen next year as the villain Rita Repulsa in the "Power Rangers" reboot and in the sequel "Pitch Perfect 3".
