Inherent Vice new on DVD and Blu-Ray

Product Description: "Inherent Vice," is the seventh feature from Paul Thomas Anderson and the first ever film adaption of a Thomas Pynchon novel. When private eye Doc Sportello's ex-old lady suddenly out of nowhere shows up with a story about her current billionaire land developer boyfriend whom she just happens to be in love with, and a plot by his wife and her boyfriend to kidnap that billionaire and throw him in a looney bin...well, easy for her to say. It's the tail end of the psychedelic `60s and paranoia is running the day and Doc knows that "love" is another of those words going around at the moment, like "trip" or "groovy," that's being way too overused - except this one usually leads to trouble. With a cast of characters that includes surfers, hustlers, dopers and rockers, a murderous loan shark, LAPD Detectives, a tenor sax player working undercover, and a mysterious entity known as the Golden Fang, which may only be a tax dodge set up by some dentists... Part surf noir, part psychedelic romp - all Thomas Pynchon.

inherent-vice-new-character-posters

Eight new totally radical characater posters for Paul Thomas Anderson's "Inherent Vice" have been released online to mark the wide release of the film. They're really awesome and some of the best artwork I've seen for any poster of 2014. Joaquin Phoenix stars as a 1960s private eye who becomes entangled in a conspiracy involving a real estate tycoon (Eric Roberts). Based on Thomas Pynchon's novel, the film also stars Josh Brolin, Owen Wilson, Katherine Waterston, Reese Witherspoon, Benicio Del Toro, Martin Short, Jena Malone and Joanna Newsom.

Inherent Vice movie images

A huge batch of 45 new images have been released for Paul Thomas Anderson's "Inherent Vice". The film is based on Thomas Pynchon's novel and it follows 1960s private eye Doc Sportello (Joaquin Phoenix) as he becomes entangled in a conspiracy involving a real estate tycoon (Eric Roberts). The film is not your typical noir crime drama. Anderson opts for a trippy tone which can be noticed from the cast of characters that includes surfers, hustlers, dopers and rockers, a murderous loan shark, LAPD Detectives, a tenor sax player working undercover, and a mysterious entity known as the Golden Fang. The film also stars Josh Brolin, Owen Wilson, Katherine Waterston, Reese Witherspoon, Benicio Del Toro, Martin Short, Jena Malone and Joanna Newsom.

"Inherent Vice" opens in theaters today and will expand on January 9th.

inherent-vice-new-trailer-and-poster

A new trailer and poster have been released for writer/director Paul Thomas Anderson's "Inherent Vice". Based on Thomas Pynchon's novel, the film tells the story of Doc Sportello (Joaquin Phoenix), a 1960s private eye who becomes involved in a typical noir conspiracy. However, the film is anything but typical and Anderson apparently intended this as a trippy crime comedy. Josh Brolin, Owen Wilson, Katherine Waterston, Reese Witherspoon, Benicio Del Toro, Martin Short, Jena Malone and Joanna Newsom also star.

"Inherent Vice" will get a limited release on December 12th, followed by an expanded release on January 9th.

inherent-vice-2014-trailer-poster

The first trailer and poster for the crime comedy "Inherent Vice" have been released. Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson ("There Will Be Blood") and based on Thomas Pynchon's novel, the film stars Joaquin Phoenix as private eye Doc Sportello who becomes involved in a 1960s conspiracy that is, according to the official synopsis, "part surf noir, part psychedelic romp". The trailer does feature some unexpectedly funny moments, making this the closest to a comedy that Anderson has ever done since "Punch Drunk Love". The film also stars Josh Brolin, Owen Wilson, Katherine Waterston, Reese Witherspoon, Benicio Del Toro, Martin Short, Jena Malone and Joanna Newsom.

"Inherent Vice" opens in theaters on December 12th.

Here is the official press release:
"Material Pictures and Zik Zak Filmworks are pleased to announce Chris Pine, Amanda Seyfried, and Chewitel Ejiofor have joined the cast of Z FOR ZACHARIAH. The film will be directed by Craig Zobel (The Great World of Sound, Compliance) from a script penned by Nissar Modi. “Everyone at Material Pictures and Zik Zak Filmworks is thrilled Z for Zachariah has attracted such a dynamic and talented cast,” said Maguire. “With Modi’s enthralling script and the vision Zobel has for the film, we’re excited to bring such a captivating story to audiences.”

The project will begin shooting in August."

Paul Thomas Anderson's much-hyped and eagerly awaited drama "The Master" has registered its first major awards season victory at the Venice Film Festival. The movie received the awards for Best Director and Best Actor (shared between Joaquin Pheonix and Phillip Seymour Hoffman). The award for Best Picture initially went to "The Master", but because the festival's rules only allow a movie to win no more than two major awards, the jury chose to present the Golden Lion to Kim-Ki Duk's "Pieta". The award for Best Actress was presented to Hadas Yaron for her performance in "Fill the Void". Olivier Assayas won the award for Best Screenplay for "Something in the Air" and the Special Jury Award went to Ulrich Seidl's "Paradise: Faith".
