Weekend Box-Office: FANTASTIC FOUR Flops While MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE Holds Top Spot

20th Century Fox's "Fantastic Four" reboot took a massive hit in its opening weekend while the latest installment in Tom Cruise's action franchise, "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation" is still in the lead.

In Theaters: FANTASTIC FOUR, THE GIFT, SHAUN THE SHEEP, RICKI AND THE FLASH

Four new wide releases are now in theaters. The first, "Fantastic Four" is a comic book adaptation that has turned out to be very controversial and a huge disappointment. Next, we have "The Gift", a thriller written, directed by and starring Joel Edgerton that has received a lot of awesome reviews. For the whole family there's the animated feature "Shaun the Sheep" which has also rounded up some excellent scores from critics. And, last but not least, Meryl Streep's latest film, "Ricki and the Flash", which despite mixed reviews could lead the actress to yet another Oscar nomination. More about each movie after the jump.

New RICKI AND THE FLASH Clips and Featurettes

Two clips and three featurettes for the dramedy "Ricki and the Flash" have been released online. The film opens today in theaters and while the critical reception was generally lukewarm, once again everyone agrees that Meryl Streep delivers yet another riveting performance.

Directed by Jonathan Demme ("The Silence of the Lambs", "Philadelphia") from a script by Diablo Cody ("Juno"), the film also stars Mamie Gummer, Kevin Kline, Sebastian Stan, Audra McDonald and Rick Springfield.

RICKI AND THE FLASH Trailer, Poster and Images

Sony has released the first trailer, poster and images for the dramedy "Ricki and the Flash". The film stars Meryl Streep as a musician who gave up everything, including her family, for her dream of rock-and-roll stardom. Years later, she returns home looking to make things right with her family.

Jonathan Demme ("The Silence of the Lambs", "Philadelphia") directs from a script by Diablo Cody ("Juno"), and once again, it looks like Streep will drive this movie through yet another flawless performance. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if she gets another Oscar nomination. These days, all she has to do to get a nod is show up in a movie. The film also stars Streep's real-life daughter Mamie Gummer (as her movie daughter), Kevin Kline, Sebastian Stan, Audra McDonald and Rick Springfield.

"Ricki and the Flash" opens in theaters on August 7th.

New Images: POLTERGEIST, TOMORROWLAND, CRIMSON PEAK, RICKI AND THE FLASH
