adaptation-2002-new-on-bluray

Product Description: "Two Very Enthusiastic Thumbs Up!" – Ebert & Roeper Director Spike Jonze delivers a stunningly original comedy that seamlessly blends fictional characters and situations with the lives of real people: obsessive orchid hunter John Laroche (Chris Cooper), journalist and author Susan Orlean (Meryl Streep), Hollywood screenwriter Charlie Kaufman (Nicolas Cage), and his twin brother Donald (also Cage). As Charlie struggles to adapt Orlean's best-selling book The Orchid Thief, he writes himself into his own movie. The various stories crash into one another, exploding into a wildly imaginative film. Adaptation, 2002's most-talked about movie, is at once a hilarious drama and a moving comedy.

oscars 2014 will smith brad pitt

The 2014 Academy Awards proved to be very unsurprising, despite a highly competitive year filled with solid movies and amazing performances. As expected, the Academy voters were split between the slavery drama "12 Years a Slave" which won Best Picture, Adapted Screenplay and Supporting Actress (Lupita Nyong’O), and the sci-fi adventure "Gravity" which picked up the most awards, seven, including Best Director (Alfonso Cuaron) and most of the technical honors. Equally unsurprising were the acting categories where Matthew McConaughey, Cate Blanchett and Jared Leto took home their well deserved trophies. Probably the single most impressive surprise of the evening was that Spike Jonze won Best Original Screenplay for "Her", one of the few films of 2013 that can truly be called original.

wga winners captain phillips and her

The Writers Guild of America Awards winners have been announced. In the film categories, the award for Best Original Screenplay went to Spike Jonze for "Her", Billy Ray won Best Adapted Screenplay for "Captain Phillips" and Best Documentary Screenplay was awarded to Sarah Polley for "Stories We Tell". As far as predictions for the Oscars go, the WGA have a high prediction factor and have accurately indicated Oscar winners in the past, but it should be taken into account that in the Best Adapted Screenplay category, the WGA ruled that "12 Years a Slave" wasn't eligible. Considering how "12 Years a Slave" is a strong contender at the Oscars, and it has been nominated for Adapted Screenplay, it's still the favorite to win. In television, the big winners were "Veep", "Breaking Bad" and "House of Cards".

Along the way Irving will introduce the young and impressionable Billy to people, places and situations that give new meaning to the term childrearing. The duo will encounter child beauty pageant contestants (and their mothers), funeral home mourners, biker bar patrons and a whole lot of unsuspecting citizens. Real people in unreal situations, making for one really messed up comedy.

2014-wga-nominations-american-hustle-dallas-buyers-club-nebraska

The nominations for the 2014 Writers Guild Awards have been announced. The usual suspects like "American Hustle", "Blue Jasmine", "Her", "Captain Phillips" and "Dallas Buyers Club" are all here, so no big surprises, apart from the nomination of Peter Berg's screenplay for the war drama "Lone Survivor". A significant snub is that of the Coen's "Inside Llewyn Davis", which, despite an incredible critical reception, seems to be pretty much ignored at the Guild awards. It even missed a nomination at the Producers Guild Awards, which are usually a solid indicator for the Oscars' Best Picture nominations. "12 Years a Slave" was also snubbed at the WGA. Her Starring Joaquin Pheonix

The first trailer and poster for Spike Jonze's new film "Her" have been released. The film stars Joaquin Pheonix as a lonely writer who develops an unlikely relationship with his newly-purchased operating system Samantha (voiced by Scarlett Johansson).
