Ryan Gosling To Play Ghost Rider In New Marvel Movie

Ryan Gosling is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Ghost Rider. The announcement was made by Marvel Studios executive Kevin Feige at the San Diego Comic Con. The standalone film will be directed by Shawn Levy ("Star Wars: Starfighter", "Deadpool & Wolverine") from a script by Jonathan Tropper ("Star Wars: Starfigher", "Banshee"), and will be released in 2028.

Here's what Levy had to say while on stage at Hall H: "I'm having the greatest flashback vibes here, because I was here two years ago when we showed 'Deadpool & Wolverine'. I'll never forget that night, because I was introduced to the greatest fans. Gosling is the absolute shit. I say that with tremendous respect. We spent a lot of time last year making 'Starfighter', and the opportunity as Ryan started talking about this character, I was like, 'Bro, let's ride'. We'll see you in 2028!"

Gosling added: "Wow, is this really happening? As you know, this is a character I've wanted to play for a very long time".

Ghost Rider was previously played by Nicolas Cage in two Sony movies, after which the rights to the character reverted to Marvel Studios, who then rebooted the character with Gabriel Luna in the ABC series "Agents of SHIELD".

Gosling can next be seen in "Star Wars: Starfighter", which is also directed by Levy and written by Tropper. The film co-stars Mia Goth, Amy Adams, Matt Smith and Aaron Pierre. The release date has been set for May 28, 2027.

Ryan Gosling Shawn Levy Star Wars Starfighter

The title for the upcoming "Star Wars" movie starring Ryan Gosling has been revealed at this year's Star Wars Celebration event in Tokyo. The film will henceforth be knwon as "Star Wars: Starfighter". Shawn Levy ("Deadpool & Wolverine", "Free Guy") will be directing with production expected to begin this fall. The release date has also been revealed as being set for May 28, 2027.

The standalone film will focus on new characters in the "Star Wars" universe, and is set five years after the events of "Star Wars: Episode IX — The Rise of Skywalker". No other casting details were revealed.

The project updated were announced by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and chief creative officer Dave Filoni. It has also been confirmed that Jonathan Tropper ("Your Friends & Neighbors", "The Adam Project", "This Is Where I Leave You") has written the screenplay for the film.

Gosling and Levy appeared at the livestreamed Star Wars Celebration to further tease the project: "Being here and seeing all of you [makes it] more inspiring to do it. There's so much creativity and imagination in this room and there's so much love. It's such a great reminder of how much movies can mean to us, specifically how much these movies mean to us. The force is a mysterious thing, but, as I'm here, the force is the fans. All we can hope for is, 'May the fans be with us'."

Levy added: "We're fans too. There's obviously a relationship between these stories and the audience, but we've spent our lives in that audience. We know how meaningful it is."

The first new "Star Wars" theatrical release since "The Rise of Skywalker" will be "The Mandalorian & Grogu", a sequel to the Disney+ series "The Mandalorian", which has already completed principal photography and will open in theaters on May 22, 2026.

Dungeons And Dragons Netflix Live Action Series

A live-action "Dungeons & Dragons" series titled "The Forgotten Realms" is currently in development at Netflix. A project was previously set up at Paramount+ with a series order, but that project ultimately did not move forward due to strategic shifts at Paramount as well as the sale of co-studio eOne by Hasbro. Hasbro Entertainment is also producing the new project.

Drew Crevello ("WeCrashed"), who was previously attached as the showrunner of the Paramount+ project, will serve as writer, executive producer, and showrunner on the Netflix show. Crevello also helped develop films like "X-Men: First Class" and "Deadpool" during his time as a film executive. Shawn Levy ("Free Guy", "Night At The Museum") will executive produce alongside Dan Levine via 21 Laps under the company's overall TV deal with Netflix.

Originally created in 1974 by E. Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson, "Dungeons & Dragons" is considered one of the most influential games of all time, setting the stage for modern role-playing games. Previous "Dungeons & Dragons" adaptations include an animated TV series in the 1980s, as well as a series of live-action movies that began in 2000. The most well received is the 2023 fantasy action comedy "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves", which grossed over $205 million worldwide.

Tom Holland to Play Young Nathan Drake in Reconfigured UNCHARTED Movie
It's been a long time since Sony's been trying to develop an "Uncharted" movie based on the highly successful PlayStation exclusive video game franchise. So far, all attempts have been unsuccessful. At one point, Mark Wahlberg was set to star, and David O. Russell ("American Hustle ") was attached to direct. According to recent reports, however, things are about to change.

It seems that Sony Pictures has recruited "Spider-Man: Homecoming " star Tom Holland to lead the "Uncharted" movie, which will be repurposed into a prequel that will focus on protagonist Nathan Drake's early days as a young thief, and his encounter with professional rogue, Victor "Sully" Sullivan, who will become a mentor and father-figure to Drake. This particular plotline is actually inspired by a sequence from the third game in the video game series and is said to be the idea of Sony Pictures chief Tom Rothman, who was very inspired by Holland's performance in the upcoming "Spider-Man" movie. It certainly looks like Sony is aiming to develop an origin story that will eventually lead into a proper "Uncharted" movie, since they apparently have no idea how to do one of those.

The film will be directed by Shawn Levy ("Stranger Things") and the studio is still looking for a screenwriter. Past scribes attached to the project include Joe Carnahan, David Guggenheim and Eric Warren Singer, but it is unknown if any of their ideas will still be used.

Besides "Spider-Man: Homecoming", which opens on July 7th, Tom Holland can also be seen this December in the biopic "The Current War" alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, Nicholas Hoult, Katherine Waterston and Michael Shannon.
