As filming has wrapped on "Twilight of the Dead", a zombie horror film billed as the "final chapter" of George A. Romero's classic saga, we now have more information about the project, which was first revealed in 2021.
The film is set on a decimated earth where the last vestiges of humanity are trapped between warring factions and an evolving undead threat. The story is based on a treatment for the movie penned by Romero before he passed in 2017, which he regarded as the conclusion to his epic saga, which consists of six movies and various spinoffs and remakes. The last movie was released in 2009.
Directed by The Paz Brothers aka Doron and Yoav Paz ("The Golem", "Plan A"), "Twilight of the Dead" stars Kate Beckinsale alongside Betty Gabriel ("Get Out"), Abigail London, Kurt Deimer, Phil Burke, Cooper Barnes, Tait Fletcher and John D. Hickman.
The production wrapped in Kentucky last month. Legendary special make-up effects creator Greg Nicotero "The Walking Dead", "Day Of The Dead") handled special effects. Paolo Zelati is producer, screenwriter and co-wrote the treatment alongside Romero.
John Baldecchi, Sarah Donnelly, and Dominic Ianno produce for Roundtable Entertainment in partnership with Suzanne Romero. Producers also include Bob Yari, Shaun Sanghani of SSS Entertainment, and George Furla.
Yari's Magenta Light Studios owns the North American rights and will distribute the film in theaters across the U.S. and Canada. The Syndicate handles international sales.
