Practical Magic Sandra Bullock Nicole Kidman

Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are in negotiations to return for a sequel to the 1998 romantic fantasy film "Practical Magic". Warner Bros announced the news on its social media channels.

Plot details are being kept under wraps. The original film's co-writer Akiva Goldsman will return to write the screenplay. "Practical Magic" was based on a 1995 novel by Alice Hoffman. Bullock and Kidman are expected to produce alongside the original's Denise Di Novi.

Back in 2019, HBO Max was pursuing a "Practical Magic" spinoff series that would have been called "Rules of Magic", based on Hoffman's prequel novel. That project never materialized. Stockard Channing, Dianne Wiest and Aidan Quinn also starred in the first film, which grossed over $68M worldwide.

Kidman can next be seen starring opposite Zac Efron and Joey King in Netflix's rom-com "A Family Affair", as well as the murder mystery series "The Perfect Couple". Other upcoming project include the Amazon series "Kay Scarpetta", the thriller "Holland, Michigan", the second seasons of Paramount+'s "Lioness" and Hulu's "Nine Perfect Strangers", and Halina Reijn's A24 movie "Babygirl".

Will Smith and Michael B. Jordan Team Up for I AM LEGEND sequel

Warner Bros is developing an "I Am Legend" sequel with Will Smith and Michael B. Jordan ("Black Panther", "Creed"). Both are set to star and produce. The sequel's script is penned by Akiva Goldsman, who also adapted Richard Matheson's 1954 novel of the same name for the 2007 film. The idea for this project originated as far back as 2012.

Since the film is still in development there are no details about the plot. No director is attached as of yet. The original film was directed by Francis Lawrence ("Constantine", "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire") and it starred Smith as the sole survivor of a plague that wiped out most of humanity and transformed the rest into monsters. The post-apocalyptic thriller grossed over $585 million worldwide.

Smith recently finished work on the thriller "Emancipation" directed by Antoine Fuqua ("Training Day"), which has been sold to Apple TV+ for $120 million.

Tom Hanks to Star in Film Based on Mattel Action Figure MAJOR MATT MASON
Tom Hanks is set to star in a film based on a Mattel action figure from the 1960s called Major Matt Mason. "The Da Vinci Code" and "Angels & Demons" scribe Akiva Goldsman will adapt the script from a short story about the character from Pulitzer Prize winner Michael Chabon.

Major Matt Mason is an astronaut who lives and works on the moon. The character was introduced in 1966 to coincide with the space race, and his look was inspired by designs seen in Life Magazine, Air Force Magazine and other space and aviation publications. The toy line also included characters like a space crew and alien allies and villains.

Mattel Films is co-producing the project. Hanks was originally attached to the project in 2012, when Robert Zemeckis was in talks to direct the film, from a script written by Hanks and Graham Yost.

Tom Hanks can next be seen in the biopic "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood", in which he plays beloved children's host Fred Rogers. His future projects include Paul Greengrass' upcoming drama "News of the World", Baz Luhrmann's Elvis biopic, and the World War II drama "Greyhound", which he also wrote based on C.S. Forester's novel.

Transformers 5 Confirmed for 2017 Release

"Transformers: Age of Extinction" took a heavy beating from critics and went home with a couple of Razzies, but the movie grossed over $1 billion worldwide, so a new sequel was, for obvious reasons, inevitable. Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner has confirmed that "Transformers 5" is moving forward for a 2017 release and that the new installment is part of a brand new strategic plan for the franchise which is intended to become a Marvel-like shared universe with several sequels and spinoffs:
"Our plan with the studio and filmmakers you may have heard some writers being hired and we have in fact brought in Akiva Goldsman to lead a group of writers to really create a strategic plan around Transformers. We think there are any number of stories to be told from the brand that has been around for 30 years with amazing canon and mythology. We would expect the sequel to the Transformers movie [TF4] to happen in 2017."
The series transformation will be handled by screenwriter Akiva Goldsman ("A Beautiful Mind", "Angels & Demons"). Michael Bay is currently busy filming the Benghazi film "13 Hours", but he's expected to return at the helm of "Transformers 5".

The epic adaptation of Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" series has hit some difficulties. Universal has taken on the ambitious endeavour of translating King's novels into three films and several branching TV series in 2013 and 2012, respectively, but such a huge project obviously requires some hardcore resources to pull through. Ron Howard was set to direct, Akiva Goldsman ("Angels and Demons", "The Da Vinci Code", "Cinderella Man") was hired to write the script and Javier Bardem was brought on board for the lead role, but now Universal has taken a step back, because Comcast, the studio's owner, felt the costs are too big, so they paused pre-production. I can certainly see why Universal/Comcast are getting cold feet.

The project is beyond ambitious, it's crazy-ambitious. Still, Michael Rosenberg, president of entertainment at Imagine, denies the existence of any trouble, which means that they really want to get this going, as soon as possible. And, director Ron Howard has recently come out saying that :
"We had to pull back to our September start date due to budget delays and ongoing story development and logistical issues, but Dark Tower is moving forward, ...We're thinking of starting in early spring now. I can't really say who'll be in it yet, but Javier Bardem has shown a great deal of interest. We'll know by the end of the summer, when our flashing green light goes solid."
So, everyone's eager and willing, but there are still some issues to sort out, so Stephen King fans will have to wait some more before hearing some good news about the future of this adaptation. So, keep your ears and eyes open, for this summer will hold the fate of "The Dark Tower".
