Adrien Brody & Rachel Zegler to Star in Musical Drama LAST DANCE

Two-time Oscar winner Adrien Brody ("The Brutalist") and Golden Globe winner Rachel Zegler ("West Side Story") have joined the cast of Brazilian filmmaker Karim Aïnouz's ("Firebrand") musical drama "Last Dance", which he will direct from a script by Emily Ziff Griffin based on her 2021 autobiographical New Yorker article "The Last Dance with My Dad". Tony, Emmy, and Grammy winner Ben Platt ("Dear Evan Hansen") is also set to star and write original music for the film.

The film follows celebrated Broadway composer Elliot (Brody) who invites his daughter Emma (Zegler) on a gay cruise through the Caribbean in 1991 — a dazzling, liberating world of music, celebration and chosen family where Emma, the only straight woman on board, experiences an unexpected first love with a young crew member. But beneath the joy and abandon, the AIDS crisis casts an ever-deepening shadow. As Elliot retreats from the devastating reality of his illness, father and daughter are forced to confront the unspoken truths between them. In the fleeting time they have left together, can they rediscover each other before the music finally fades?

Griffin also executive produces. Fifth Season and President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Lynette Howell Taylor ("A Star Is Born") is producing via 51 Entertainment. FilmNation Entertainment will launch international sales at the upcoming Cannes market. Fifth Season and CAA Media Finance Group are handling domestic rights.

When many were dying of AIDS, there was a sense of solidarity and fury that made us stronger. Rachel Zegler Joins Marisa Tomei in Dramedy SHE GETS IT FROM ME

"Snow White", "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snake" and "West Side Story" star Rachel Zegler is set to star alongside Marisa Tomei in the dramedy "She Gets It From Me". The film is directed by Julia von Heinz, best known for helming "Treasure" and Germany's 2021 Oscar submission "And Tomorrow the Entire World", from a script by Jay Reiss (Tony Award winning "The Twenty Fifth Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee", "The Oranges").

Based on a true story, the film follows Nicky (Zegler), whose engagement celebration turns into a search for her pill-popping, ex-punk rocker birth mother, Charlotte (Tomei). Together, the two embark on an anarchic mother-and-daughter journey to reconnect. As per the official synopsis, "YouTube is packed with tearful family reunions, but nobody films the messy aftermath".

3311 Productions ("The Assistant", "Brigsby Bear", "Table 19") produces in partnership with Anna Werner for Seven Elephants ("And Tomorrow the Entire World", "Sun and Concrete", "Treasure") and Reiss. Embankment Films handles international sales with CAA representing U.S. rights, and will be launching global pre-sales in Cannes.

Von Heinz said the following: "The emotional truth of the movie, reflecting parts of all our lives, is truly funny, immersive cinema. Jay's screenplay captures family dynamics at their most authentic: absurd yet profound, messy yet meaningful. The collision of two worlds creates comedy that cuts deep because it's so honest."

Zegler is set to make her West End debut in "Evita" at the London Palladium.

The 2025 film "Snow White" is a live-action remake of Disney's classic 1937 animated film, which in turn was based on the 1812 fairy tale of the same name by the Brothers Grimm.

HUNGER GAMES: THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS & SNAKES Casts Peter Dinklage

Golden Globe and Emmy-winning "Game of Thrones" star Peter Dinklage has joined the cast of Lionsgate's upcoming "Hunger Games" prequel. Titled "Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes", the film is based on Suzanne Collins' 2020 novel of the same name, and will be directed by franchise veteran Francis Lawrence, who previously helmed "Catching Fire", "Mockingjay Part One" and "Mockingjay Part Two".

According to the logline, the story follows an 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow, years before he became the tyrannical President of Panem. The young Snow is the last hope for his fading lineage, a once-proud family that has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol. With the 10th annual Hunger Games fast approaching, Snow is alarmed when he is assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird, the girl tribute from impoverished District 12. But, after Lucy Gray commands all of Panem’s attention by defiantly singing during the reaping ceremony, Snow thinks he might be able to turn the odds in their favor. Uniting their instincts for showmanship and newfound political savvy, Snow and Lucy’s race against time to survive will ultimately reveal who is a songbird, and who is a snake.

Dinklage will star as Casca Highbottom, dean of the Academy. The cast also includes Tom Blyth as the young Coriolanus Snow, and Rachel Zegler as tribute Lucy Gray Baird.

The adaptation is penned by Michael Leslie, who built upon a previous draft by Michael Arndt. "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" will be released in theaters on November 17, 2023.

Dinklage is next set to star in "Brothers" opposite Josh Brolin and Brendan Fraser, and "She Came to Me" alongside Anne Hathaway and Marisa Tomei.

Rachel Zegler To Star in Lionsgate's THE HUNGER GAMES: THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES

Rachel Zegler ("West Side Story") is joining the cast of the new installment in "The Hunger Games" franchise. Titled "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes", Lionsgate's movie is based on Suzanne Collins' 2020 novel, which is both a spin-off and prequel to the original trilogy. The film will be directed by franchise veteran Francis Lawrence, who directed "Catching Fire", "Mockingjay Part One" and "Mockingjay Part Two".

Zegler will star in the lead role of Lucy Gray Baird, while Tom Blyth also joined the cast as a young Coriolanus Snow, who was played by Donald Sutherland, in the previous films. The latest draft of the script is penned by Michael Lesslie ("Macbeth", "Assassin's Creed").

Years before he would become the tyrannical President of Panem, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow is the last hope for his fading lineage, a once-proud family that has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol. With the 10th annual Hunger Games fast approaching, the young Snow is alarmed when he is assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird, the girl tribute from impoverished District 12. But, after Lucy Gray commands all of Panem’s attention by defiantly singing during the reaping ceremony, Snow thinks he might be able to turn the odds in their favor. Uniting their instincts for showmanship and newfound political savvy, Snow and Lucy’s race against time to survive will ultimately reveal who is a songbird, and who is a snake.

"The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" will open in theaters worldwide on November 17, 2023. Collins, Tim Palen, and Jim Millerwill serve as executive producers.

Zegler is currently filming the title role in Disney's live action remake "Snow White".

Rachel Zegler To Voice Lead Of Animated Film SPELLBOUND

"West Side Story" breakout star Rachel Zegler is set to voice the lead role in Apple and Skydance's new animated musical film "Spellbound". The film is directed by Vicky Jenson ("Shrek", "Shark Tale") from a script by Lauren Hynek ("Mulan") & Elizabeth Martin and Linda Woolverton.

Zegler will voice Ellian, a tenacious princess who must go on a daring quest to save her family and kingdom after a mysterious spell transforms her parents into monsters and threatens to cover Lumbria in darkness forever. Academy Award winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast", "Aladdin") will write the musical score, with song lyrics by Glenn Slater.

John Lasseter, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and David Lipman are producing for Skydance Animation. Paramount originally set the release date for "Spellbound" on November 11, 2022, but it's likely it will get pushed back now that it's developed by Apple.

Zegler will next star in Disney's live action remake "Snow White", and will also appear in DC Comics' "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" alongside Zachary Levi, Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu.
