Matt Bomer Joins THE DAY OF THE JACKAL Season 2

Matt Bomer ("White Collar", "Magic Mike") has joined the second season of Peacock and Sky's spy thriller series "The Day of the Jackal". While Bomer's character details are being kept under wraps, it has been revealed that he will have a recurring role, and rumors even hint at a villainous role.

The second season has started production in Budapest. New additions to the cast also include Weruche Opia and Pablo Schreiber as series regulars. The show is based on the novel by Frederick Forsyth and the 1973 Universal movie, and it stars Eddie Redmayne as elusive assassin The Jackal.

The first season was nominated for two Golden Globes for Best Drama Series and Performance by a Male Actor (Redmayne). It launched as a Top 5 streaming original drama in the U.S. for its opening weekend, according to Nielsen, and logged a 28-day audience of 4.6 million in the UK, the largest ever for a new Sky series.

"The Day of the Jackal" is produced by Carnival Films, part of Universal International Studios, a division of Universal Studio Group, and is commissioned by Sky Studios and Peacock. Executive producers include Gareth Neame, Nigel Marchant and Marianne Buckland for Carnival Films, alongside Redmayne, writer David Harrower, director Brian Kirk, Sam Hoyle for Sky Studios, Sue Naegle, Ronan Bennett and Lis Steele.

GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO TV Series In the Works at Sky

Stieg Larsson's novel "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" is getting another adaptation, this time for the small screen. A new series is being developed at Sky with Steve Lightfoot ("The Punisher", "Behind Her Eyes", "Spider-Noir") and Angela LaManna ("The Haunting Of Bly Manor") set to write and executive produce. The eight-episode series will be produced by Left Bank Pictures's Andy Harries, Charlotte Moore and John Phillips, alongside Sam Hoyle for Sky, Amy Pascal, and Scott Rudin.

The book follows disgraced journalist Mikael Blomkvist and hacker Lisbeth Salander as they investigate the mysterious disappearance of a girl from a wealthy family 40 years earlier. The show will bring the story into the present, grounded in the characters and investigative DNA of Stieg Larsson's "Millennium" novels, with themes that carry heightened relevance today.

Production will begin in Lithuania this spring. The series will be available on Sky in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. Sony Pictures Television will handle international distribution with pre-sale efforts already underway in the United States.

Larsson completed three novels in the series before his death in 2004: "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo", "The Girl Who Played With Fire", and "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest". David Lagercrantz then took over writing the novels and published "The Girl in the Spider's Web", "The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye", and "The Girl Who Lived Twice". Karin Smirnoff recently took over the series, publishing the books "The Girl in the Eagle's Talons" in 2022 and "The Girl with Ice in Her Veins" in 2024. The books have sold more than 100 million copies combined worldwide.

Amazon was also working on a series based on "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", but the project never moved forward. The first three books were previously adapted into a trilogy of Swedish films starring Noomi Rapace and Michael Nyqvist. David Fincher directed an American adaptation of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" starring Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig. In 2018, Claire Foy" starred in an adaptation of "The Girl in the Spider's Web".

Emma Laird Joins Dominic West & Sienna Miller in HBO & Sky Legal Series WAR

Emma Laird ("The Brutalist", "Mayor of Kingstown") has joined the cast of Sky and HBO's upcoming legal drama series "War". The series, which is currently shooting, is created by George Kay ("Hijack") and it stars Dominic West and Sienna Miller. Warner Bros. Discovery-owned cable network HBO and Comcast-owned British pay-TV broadcaster Sky previously worked together on shows like "Chernobyl" and "The Young Pope".

Set in the elite world of London law, the sow focuses on two rival law firms – Cathcarts and Taylor & Byrne – made up of men and women at the top of their game. The plot kicks off with the firms going head-to-head in a scandalous divorce case that sends shockwaves through boardrooms and courtrooms alike.

Laird will play Molly Giordano, a training associate at Taylor & Byrne, who works there with her best friend Saeed, also a training associate, but only one of them can secure an end-of-year training contract, which pits the two against each other in perpetual friendly rivalry.

Laird can next be seen in upcoming period spoof comedy "Fackham Hall" directed by Jim O'Hanlon from a script by Jimmy Carr, which also stars Thomasin McKenzie, Damian Lewis and Katherine Waterson. The film will be released in U.S. cinemas on December 5, 2025, and in the UK on December 12. Laird can also be seen in the horror sequel "28 Years Later: Bone Temple", which opens on January 16, 2026, and the BBC series "Mint". Her upcoming projects also include a supporting role in the upcoming Apple TV limited series "Neuromancer", and a role in Cary Joji Fukunaga's "Blood on Snow".

Natasha Lyonne & Matt Berry To Create and Star in New Sky Comedy Adventure Series FORCE & MAJEURE

Natasha Lyonne Matt Berry New Series Force And Majeure

Natasha Lyonne ("Poker Face") and Matt Berry ("What We Do in the Shadows") are co-creating and starring Sky's new series "Force & Majeure". Writer Tom Scharpling ("Monk", "What We Do in the Shadows") will co-create alongside Lyonne and Berry. Produced by Lyonne's Animal Pictures and Objective Fiction ("The Gold", "Year of the Rabbit") in association with Sky Studios, the show has been described as a "retro-infused, playfully irreverent take on the classic TV action-adventure detective genre".

The series follows a British art expert, Thomas Force (Berry,) and American mercenary Jennifer Majeure (Lyonne). The pair are recruited by an eccentric, justice-obsessed billionaire named Amanda Daventry and find themselves tasked with defeating the evil plans of international villains operating in locations across Europe. But as Force & Majeure team up to defeat the forces of evil, they must also work together to escape the clutches of Amanda, who may not be telling them the whole story.

Writers include Scharpling, Iain Morris ("The Inbetweeners", "Time Bandits") and Cirocco Dunlap ("Russian Doll", "The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy"). The project is expected to be taken to U.S. buyers shortly. NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution will handle international sales on behalf of Sky Studios.

Executive producers include Ben Farrell and Hannah Mackay for Objective Fiction, Lyonne and Max Ferguson for Animal Pictures, Berry, Scharpling, Morris, Dunlap and Alex Moody for Sky.

Dominic West & Sienna Miller To Star In HBO & Sky Legal Thriller Series WAR

Dominic West Sienna Miller Legal Thriller Series War

Dominic West ("The Crown", "The Wire") and Sienna Miller ("Layer Cake", "Anatomy of a Scandal") are set to star in the upcoming legal thriller series "War" from George Kay, the creator of Apple's "Hijack" and Netflix's "Lupin" and "Criminal". Kay wrote the new series, which has been given a two-season order from HBO and Sky. "War" will be an anthology series, with a new case each season.

Set in the elite world of London law, the show stars West as tech titan Morgan Henderson and Miller plays his estranged wife, international film star Carla Duval. The story kicks off with a scandalous divorce case that sends shockwaves through boardrooms, bedrooms, and courtrooms alike, and it follows two of London's most prestigious rival firms – Cathcarts and Taylor & Byrne – as they go head-to-head. Each side is certain they'll win. But as the case spirals and loyalties fracture, reputations are on the line, and everyone's playing to win.

The cast also includes Phoebe Fox, James McArdle, Nina Sosanya, Pip Torrens and Archie Renaux. This is the latest co-production between HBO and Sky following "Chernobyl", "The Young Pope", "The Baby" and "Landscapers". The show was developed by Sky and greenlit last summer before taking it to HBO, which recently came on board.

Kay will also serve as showrunner, and Ben Taylor ("Catastrophe") will direct. The series is produced by All3Media-owned British producer New Pictures, which was behind 2019 HBO/Sky co-pro Catherine "The Great", and Kay's Observatory Pictures. Executive producers include Kay, Taylor, Willow Grylls, Matt Sandford, Susan Breen, Andrea Dewsbury and Megan Spanjian.

West and Miller, previously starred together in a British stage adaptation of "As You Like It" in 2005 and have also appeared together in Burberry campaigns.

It will air on HBO and HBO Max in the U.S. and stream on HBO Max in Australia, while Sky will air it in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution has international sales rights.

Kay had this to say about the show: "I am excited to be working with Sky and HBO – two homes for bold, ambitious storytelling – and our brilliant production team. War is a legal drama full of double crossing, scandal, twists and betrayal. The kind of TV show that made me want to write TV shows".

Eddie Redmayne To Return For THE DAY OF THE JACKAL Season 2

Eddie Redmayne Day Of The Jackal Season 2

Eddie Redmayne has confirmed he is returning for the second season of "The Day of the Jackal". The show was renewed last month. The Sky and Peacock series is an adaptation of the 1972 book and the 1973 feature film of the same name.

Redmayne made the announcement via Instagram: "If there's one thing that the Jackal can't stand, it's a loose end. So we will see you soon for Season 2".

The show's producer Gareth Neame recently admitted he was not keen to reboot the property, having been a huge fan of the original film: "I think eventually the business imperative took over, and I said, 'Well, alright, we need some business, so we'll [do it].'"

Lead director Brian Kirk also added that the decision to upend audience's expectations was baked into the reboot from the beginning: "I think that that there'd been such an intense investment in the character of the Jackal, and so much excitement about how much further he could be taken, and that's been validated by the fact that there's a second season. It's about growing the IP... and it is 'The Day of the Jackal' it’s not 'The Day of the Person Who Kills the Jackal'. So it felt appropriate."

Eddie Redmayne To Lead THE DAY OF THE JACKAL Series

Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne ("The Good Nurse", "The Theory of Everything", "Fantastic Beasts") is set to star in Peacock and Sky's upcoming thriller series "The Day of the Jackal", a reimagining of Frederick Forsyth's novel and Universal's 1973 film of the same name. The show is produced by Universal International Studios' Carnival Films, which is best known for producing "Downton Abbey".

Redmayne will play the Jackal in a contemporary update of the original story which will be set amidst the current turbulent geo-political landscape, and will provide an in-depth exploration of the character. In the original story, The Jackal was a professional assassin hired by a French paramilitary dissident to kill French President Charles de Gaulle in 1962.

"Top Boy" creator and writer Ronan Benentt will pen the script and serve as showrunner. Brian Kirk, who is best known for directing episodes of "Game of Thrones" and "Luther", will direct. Production begins this year.

Redmayne will also executive produce alongside Carnival Films' Gareth Neame and Nigel Marchant, and Sky Studios' Sam Hoyle. Marianne Buckland serves as co-exec producer, Frederick Forsyth is consulting producer and Christopher Hall is a producer.

Neame had this to say about the project:

"We are excited to bring to life Ronan Bennett’s re-imagining of Forsyth’s revered thriller in the complex world in which we live today. And are incredibly fortunate to have an actor of Eddie’s caliber as our Jackal. Paired with Ronan’s screenplay and Brian Kirk’s direction this is a first class creative team.".

"The Day of the Jackal" will air on Peacock in the U.S. and Sky in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. NBCUniversal Global Distribution will handle international sales of the series.

INTELLIGENCE (2020) Series Trailer, Images and Poster

"Intelligence" is a British sitcom created by Nick Mohammed. The show stars David Schwimmer as an NSA agent who is assigned to act as liaison to the cyber crimes unit in the UK's Government Communications Headquarters. He quickly antagonises the unit's chief with his brash style and tendency to try to take over. The cast also includes Nick Mohammed, Sylvestra Le Touzel, Gana Bayarsaikhan and Jane Stanness.

The series has been renewed for a second season.

"Intelligence" premiered on February 21, 2020 on Sky One, and it's also available on Sky's Now TV platform. It was released in the U.S. on NBCUniversal's streaming service Peacock on July 15, 2020.

The second season of the British drama series "Bulletproof" has premiered on March 20, 2020 on Sky TV in the U.K., and in the U.S. on June 10, 2020 on The CW. Created by and starring Noel Clarke and Ashley Walters, the series follows two cops, Bishop (Clarke) and Pike (Walters), as they chase down hardened criminals in London's East End. The cast also features Lindsey Coulson, Jason Maza, David Elliot, Lee Ross and Vanessa Vanderpuye.

THE NEW POPE Miniseries Trailers, Clip, Featurette, Images and Poster

"The New Pope" is a new Sky/HBO/Canal+ drama series created and directed by Paolo Sorrentino, and a follow-up to Sorrentino's 2016 series "The Young Pope". The ten-episode series stars Jude Law, John Malkovich, Silvio Orlando, Cecile de France, Javier Camara, Ludivine Sagnier, Henry Goodman, Sharon Stone, Yuliya Snigir and Marilyn Manson.

"The New Pope" premiered on January 10, 2020 on Sky Atlantic Italy and on January 12 on Sky Atlantic UK. The show will air on January 13th on HBO and Canal+.

Olivia Colman to Star in Crime Drama LANDSCAPERS for HBO, Sky

Oscar winner Olivia Colman ("The Favourite", "The Crown") is set to star in HBO and Sky's latest collaboration, the true crime drama "Landscapers". The show has received a series order, and it will be directed by award-winning director Alexander Payne ("The Descendants").

Inspired by real events, the series explores the lives of convicted killers Susan (Colman) and Christopher Edwards, a mild-mannered couple from Mansfield in the UK, who killed Susan's parents and buried them in the back garden of their home. Their crime remained undiscovered for over a decade.

Colman's husband, Ed Sinclair is writing the series, which is based on hours of interviews with the real-life figures behind the crime who have always maintained their innocence.

"Landscapers" is set to start production next year, and will air on Sky Atlantic and Now TV in the UK and on Sky in Germany, Italy, Spain and Ireland as well as HBO in the U.S.

Here's what Colman, who is also producing alongside Sinclair, had to say about the project:

"I love Ed’s scripts, which is just as well as he cooks many of my meals. No, the truth is it’s quite rare to be desperate to play a part on the first reading of a script, but that was the case here. The writing is brave, but subtle and tender too – a joy for any actor.".

Naomie Harris Joins Jude Law in HBO-Sky Limited Series THIRD DAY

Oscar-nominated "Moonlight" actress Naomie Harris has joined the cast of HBO and Sky's upcoming limited series "The Third Day", co-created by "Utopia"'s Dennis Kelly and immersive theater company Punchdrunk International founder Felix Barrett. Kelly, Kit de Waal and Dean O'Loughlin will write the series.

The six-part series will be divided into two distinct halves. Directed by Marc Munden, the first half, titled "Summer", follows Sam (Jude Law), a man drawn to a mysterious island off the British coast where he encounters a group of islanders set on preserving their traditions at any cost.

The second half, "Winter", is directed by Philippa Lowthorpe, and it follows Helen (Harris), a strong-willed outsider who comes to the island seeking answers, but whose arrival precipitates a fractious battle to decide its fate.

This is the first original drama to be produced by Sky's new Sky Studios production house, in partnership with Plan B Entertainment, Punchdrunk International and HBO. Other collaborations between HBO and Sky include "Chernobyl" and the upcoming period drama "Catherine the Great" starring Helen Mirren.

Harris can be seen next in the cop thriller "Black and Blue", and she will also return to the James Bond franchise as Eve Moneypenny in the upcoming 25th installment of the classic spy series, titled "No Time to Die", which is due in theaters in April 2020.

"The Third Day" will air in 2020 on HBO in the U.S. and on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW TV in the U.K. and Ireland.

"Bulletproof" is a British drama series created by Noel Clarke, Ashley Walters and NicK Love ("The Sweeney"). Clarke and Walters star as childhood friends from very different backgrounds, who work together as detectives for the National Crime Agency in London, dealing with organised crime. The cast also includes Lindsey Coulson, Christina Chong, Lashanna Lynch, Mandeep Dhillon, Caroline Goodall and Clarke Peters.

"Bulletproof" premiered on May 15, 2018 in the U.K. on Sky, and in the U.S. on August 7, 2019 on The CW.

DAS BOOT Series Trailer, Featurette, Images and Posters

"Das Boot" is a German TV series produced for Sky, based on the 1973 book of the same name by Lothar-Gunther Buchheim, and its sequel "Die Festung". Created by Johannes W. Betz and Tony Saint, the show is also a sequel to Wolfgang Petersen's 1981 big screen adaptation of the novel, and it's set nine months after the film's setting of December 1941.

The plot focuses on the narratives of the upcoming Resistance in La Rochelle and the claustrophobic life aboard U-612. The cast features Rick Okon, Vicky Krieps, Robert Stadlober, Leonard Schleicher, James D'Arcy, Kevin McNally and Lizzy Caplan.

"Das Boot" premiered on November 23, 2018 on Sky, and on June 17, 2019 via Hulu.

Maisie Williams to Star in Sky Comedy TWO WEEKS TO LIVE

"Game of Thrones" star Maisie Williams is on board to lead the cast of the upcoming Sky original comedy series "Two Weeks to Live". The six-part show will be produced by Kudos, a television production company best known for "The Tunnel" and "Humans".

Written by Gaby Hull ("Cheat"), the story follows Kim Noakes (Williams), a strange young misfit who was just a little girl when her father died in murky circumstances. Following his death, her mother whisked her away to a remote rural life of seclusion and bizarre survival techniques. Now all grown up, she finds herself on the run from a murderous gangster and the police with a massive bag of stolen cash, and the survival techniques she has picked up from her upbringing will prove to be immensely useful.

Additional casting is underway and filming is expected to begin later this year.

Future Sky originals include the four-part miniseries "Catherine the Great" starring Helen Mirren; the comedy series "Intelligence" with David Schwimmer; the 10-episode comedy "Breeders" starring Martin Freeman; and the second season of "In the Long Run" with Idris Elba.

Jude Law to Star in Sky and HBO Drama THE THIRD DAY

"Captain Marvel" star Jude Law has signed on star in the upcoming limited series "The Third Day". The six-episode miniseries marks a new collaboration between Sky and HBO following the success of "Chernobyl". Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment will also be involved. This will be the first original from Sky Studios, a brand new production unit.

Co-created and written by Dennis Kelly ("Utopia"), the series follows Sam (Law), who after being drawn to a mysterious Island off the British Coast, is thrown into the unusual world of its secretive inhabitants. Isolated from the mainland, the rituals of the island begin to overwhelm him, and he is confronted by a trauma from his past. As the line between reality and fantasy blurs, Sam finds himself immersed in an emotional quest which puts him at odds with the islanders and begins to threaten their way of life.

BAFTA-winning director Marc Munden ("National Treasure", "Utopia") will helm the entire series. Kit de Waal and Dean O'Loughlin are also writers for the series. Adrian Sturges ("Chimerica", "The Enfield Haunting") is on board to produce, and filming will start in the U.K. in July.

Other upcoming HBO and Sky projects include the period drama "Catherine the Great" starring Oscar-winner Helen Mirren, the dark underground thriller "Temple" starring Mark Strong, the comedy "Brassic" written by and starring Joe Gilgun and Michelle Keegan, and the series "In the Long Run" created by and starring Idris Elba.

CHERNOBYL (2019) Miniseries Trailers, Featurettes, Images and Poster

"Chernobyl" is a new five-part historical drama miniseries created and written by Craig Mazin ("The Hangover Part II and III", "Identity Thief"). Directed by Johan Renck ("Downloading Nancy"), the series is a co-production between HBO and British television network Sky, and it chronicles the Chernobyl nuclear disaster that occurred in the Ukrainian SSR in April 1986. The cast includes Jared Harris, Stellan Skarsgard, Emily Watson, Jessie Buckley, Adrian Ralins, Ralph Ineson, Barry Keoghan and Paul Ritter.

"Chernobyl" premiered in the U.S. and the U.K. on May 6, 2019.
