Final Destination Bloodlines Helmers To Direct Animated Venom Movie

"Final Destination Bloodlines" directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein are attached to direct Sony Pictures Animation's upcoming animated "Venom" movie. No plot details have been revealed, and there's no writer attached, but the studio is opening up a writers room to develop the script.

Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, and Kelly Marcel, who worked on the "Venom" movies, will return as producers. Tom Hardy, who played Eddie Brock in the live-action trilogy will also produce.

The character was created by writer David Michelinie and artist Todd McFarlane, and first appeared in the comics in 1988’s "Amazing Spider-Man" No. 300. On the big screen, Venom first appeared in Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man 3". Later, the character became the star of his own cinematic franchise with Ruben Fleischer's 2018 film, which grossed $856 million worldwide. It was followed by "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" in 2021 ($506.8 nmillion) and "Venom: The Last Dance" in 2024 ($478.9 million).

Lipovsky and Stein broke out last year with "Final Destination Bloodlines" which grossed $317 million worldwide. They are also attached to co-write a new "Gremlins" movie alongside Chris Columbus, as well as direct Sony's sci-fi film "The Earthling" based on Jonathan Marty's short story, Unniversal's psychological thriller "Long Lost", and Paramount's sci-fi drama "The Traveler".

Gremlins 3 Release Date Officially Announced

Warner Bros has officially confirmed that "Gremlins 3" is indeed in the works, and that its release date has been set for November 19, 2027. David Zaslav, the CEO and president of Warner Bros. Discovery, made the announcement on Thursday's investor call.

It has also been confirmed that Steven Spielberg is returning to executive produce while Chris Columbus ("Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone", "Home Alone") is set to direct and produce. "Final Destination Bloodlines" scribes Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein will co-write the screenplay. No cast or plot details have been revealed.

"Gremlins 3" will be produced by Kristie Macosko Krieger and Holly Bario for Amblin Entertainment alongside 26th Street Pictures' Michael Barnathan and Mark Radcliffe.

The original "Gremlins" was directed by Joe Dante from a script by Columbus. It famously led to the creation of the PG-13 rating, and it was a box office hit with $212 million worldwide. The sequel "Gremlins 2: The New Batch" was released in 1990, but only grossed $41 million domestically. Nevertheless, it went on to become a cult classic.

Warner Bros. Pictures' president of development and production Jesse Ehrman said in a statement: "Few titles are as beloved and iconic as 'Gremlins', and we're beyond excited to bring it back for both lifelong fans and a whole new generation. It's a privilege to be working alongside Steven [Spielberg], Chris [Columbus], and the entire creative team, and we look forward to audiences experiencing the next installment of the magic, mayhem, and heart of Gremlins on the big screen in 2027."
