The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films have announced the winners of the 53rd Saturn Awards. "Avatar: Fire and Ash", "Frankenstein" and "Pluribus" were the big winners. The ceremony was hosted by Joel McHale.
James Cameron's "Avatar" threequel took home prizes for Best Science Fiction Film, Best Younger Performer in a Film (Jack Champion), Best Film Screenwriting, Best Visual/Special Effects, and Best Film Direction. Guillermo del Toro's "Frankenstein" scored wins for Best Horror Film, Supporting Actor (Jacob Elordi), Best Make-Up and Costume.
In the television categories, "Pluribus" took home three awards: Best New Genre Television Series, Best Actress in a Television Series (Rhea Seehorn) and Best Supporting Actress (Karolina Wydra).
James Cameron and producer Gale Anne Hurd accepted the George Pal Memorial Award, honoring the 40th anniversary of "Aliens". George Lucas received the Dr. Donald A. Reed Founder's Award. William Shatner accepted the Saturn Hall of Fame Award, which celebrated the 60th anniversary of "Star Trek".
