A live-action series is being developed by Netflix based on the free-to-play battle royale video game "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" with Donald Glover ("Atlanta", "Community") attached to star. Glover and his brother and frequent collaborator Stephen Glover ("Mr. and Mrs. Smith") are set to write and executive produce the show, and Donald is also planning to direct. The video game was originally published by Krafton in 2017, and still remains one of the most popular video games in the world, pulling in hundreds of thousands of active users daily.
Since the game does not have a plot, it's hard to say at this point what the show will be about, and Netflix is keeping everything under wraps, for now. The game pits players against each other on diverse maps, looting unique weapons and supplies as they fight to survive an ever-shrinking zone. The last player standing wins.
Michael Schaefer of Neon TV will also executive produce, alongside Fam Udeorji for Gilga, and Taeseok Jang and Sujin Lee for LV3H, the entertainment division of PUBG publisher Krafton.
Netflix also has other video game adaptations in the works, including an "Assassin's Creed" TV series, a "Gears of War" live-action film, as well as animated series based on "Clash of Clans" and "Minecraft".
