Odessa A'zion Joins Justine Triet's Psychological Thriller FONDA

Odessa A'zion ("Marty Supreme", "Hellraiser") has joined the cast of Oscar and Palme d'Or-winning filmmaker Justine Triet's ("Anatomy of a Fall") English-language debut "Fonda". New additions to the cast also include Ewan Mitchell ("House of the Dragon", "Wuthering Heights"), Cherry Jones ("24", "The Handmaid's Tale"), and Benedict Wong ("Weapons", "Doctor Strange").

The film, which is scheduled to shoot from April to June, is a psychological thriller set in a seemingly idyllic huis clos (closed-door) setting that will take audiences on a vertiginous dive into the shifting limits of a sound mind, as grief and obsession take hold. Triet both writes and directs. The cast features Mia Goth ("Frankenstein"), Allison Janney ("I Tonya"), Andrew Scott ("All of Us Strangers"), Frank Dillane ("Urchin") and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett ("Candyman").

Triet reunites with "Anatomy of a Fall" producers Marie-Ange Luciani ("Les Films de Pierre") and David Thion ("Les Films Pelléas"), as well as sales agent MK2 Films ("Sentimental Value"). Delphine Tomson, Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne's Belgian company Les Films du Fleuve ("Rosetta") co-produce. U.K. partners Tessa Ross's and Theo Barrowclough's House Productions ("Conclave", "Ink") and BBC Film have joined the project. Eva Yates executive produces.

MK2 Films is handling international sales and is also financing and co-producing, alongside Studiocanal's Anna Marsh, Francois Mergier and Assia Barge. Nathanaël Karmitz, Elisha Karmitz and Fionnuala Jamison are also credited as producers. Studiocanal will distribute "Fonda" theatrically in France, Germany, Italy, Benelux, Poland, Australia and New Zealand. IPR.VC, with which MK2 Films has a multi-year financing deal, is also a financier. Casting for the film has been handled by Cynthia Arra ("Anatomy of a Fall") and Kharmel Cochrane ("Saltburn").

César Awards 2024 Winners - The Complete List

The winners of the 49th edition of the French César awards have been revealed. Justine Triet's "Anatomy of a Fall" won Best Film and Director. The film also won Best Actress for Sandra Hüller, Original Screenplay for Triet and Arthur Harari, Editing for Laurent Sénéchal and Supporting Actor for Swann Arlaud.

The night's other big winner was Thomas Caille's "The Animal Kingdom" which won awards for Cinematography, Visual Effects, Costume Design, and Sound. One of the highlights of the evening was the honorary tribute to "Oppenheimer" director Christopher Nolan, which was presented by Oscar-winning actress Marion Cotillard.

Cannes Film Festival 2023: Justine Triet's ANATOMY OF A FALL Wins Palme D'Or

This year's winner of the Cannes Film Festival's top prize, the Palme D'Or, is French filmmaker Justine Triet for her thriller "Anatomy of a Fall". Other winners included Jonathan Glazer's "The Zone of Interest" which took the Grand Prize; Tran Anh Hung won Best Director for "The Pot-au-Feu"; and Aki Kaurismaki's "Fallen Leaves" received the Jury Prize.
