Jessica Chastain to Star in New Netflix Drama Series THE RETRIEVALS
Oscar winner Jessica Chastain is set to star in Netflix's new drama series "The Retrievals" written, showrun and executive produced by Molly Smith Metzler ("Sirens", "Maid"). The show is based on the New York Times and Serial Productions podcast of the same name by Susan Burton, and it also stars Amy Ryan, Emilia Jones, Fabien Frankel and Will Harrison. Lila Neugebauer ("Maid", "Sirens, "The Beast in Me") serves as the pilot director and executive producer.

The show will follow an unlikely community of IVF patients who come together to crusade against Yale University after they are operated on without anesthesia — because a nurse stole their fentanyl. Chastain will star as Kaitlyn Langford, a former art historian who has spent the last decade stuck in an endless cycle of failed fertility treatments. When she learns she's also a victim of criminal drug diversion at the Yale Fertility Center, she faces a devastating personal reckoning and becomes a key plaintiff in this historic lawsuit against Yale.

Metzler had this to say about the casting: "Chastain was the writing team's 'exemplar' while crafting the role of Kaitlyn. As a performer, she has the rare ability to convey extreme restraint and unbridled freefall, often at the same time. It gives me goosebumps just thinking about what Jessica's going to do with this role."

Dani Gorin, Tom Ackerley, and Margot Robbie also executive produce via LuckyChap. Other executive producers include Colin McKenna, Caitlin Roper for The New York Times, and podcast writer Susan Burton. The project is produced by LuckyChap and Quiet Coyote.

Amy Ryan Joins Emilia Jones In Netflix Drama Series THE RETRIEVALS
Oscar nominee Amy Ryan ("Gone Baby Gone", "The Wire") has signed on to star in Netflix's upcoming drama series "The Retrievals" from Molly Smith Metzler, the creator of "Maid" and "Sirens", based on the Peabody-winning NYT podcast by Susan Burton. Metzler is writer and showrunner. Lila Neugebauer will direct the pilot episode.

"The Retrievals" follows an unlikely community of IVF patients who come together to crusade against Yale University after they are operated on without anesthesia, because a nurse stole their fentanyl.

Ryan will play Carla Russo, a veteran nurse at Yale Fertility Center who pleads guilty to diverting vast amounts of fentanyl and diluting it with saline, forcing many patients to endure egg retrieval surgery without anesthesia. Emilia Jones stars as Gabby Clemente, one of Carla's victims who leads a groundbreaking legal battle against Yale University.

Metzler executive produces via Quiet Coyote alongside Burton, Neugebauer, Colin McKenna , Caitlin Roper for The New York Times, and Dani Gorin, Tom Ackerley and Margot Robbie for LuckyChap.

Ryan can next be seen in Tom McCarthy's dramedy "A Statement", which will premiere at the New York Film Festival.
